Potential to have one on display?
So there's a big event 8/30 - 9/1 this year: http://mustangsatthemickyard.com/ What do you all think the odds are that Ford might have an S550 on display since it will be ~6mo before the thing goes on sale?
While I doubt an S550 proper -- that'll come out on the Mustang's 50th birthday in 4/2014 -- a Mustang "Concept" might not be out of the question to sort of grease the skids for the revamped and much more au currant design. However, that might risk muffling the thunder of the 4/2014 reveal, so who knows?

I think it would be a pretty extraordinary feat to keep the car secret till April if it is going to be on sale that summer. Just look at the c7 and other high profile launches it's so hard to keep it secret. So my guess is that they may have to reveal the car earlier to put it on sale in April 14. Just think about the process now, getting order guides to dealers, the conceps system, marketing materials, etc etc. they could definitely reveal the car earlier like Detriot then let all the journalists drive it and lift the embargoes in concert with a big media plan on the actual on sale birthday.
There will undoubtedly be leaks, spy shots and the other usual stuff leading up to the official release of the 2015. While Ford has pretty darned good security around their upcoming cars, there's no way they'll be able to hermetically seal the 2015 until 4/2014. However, I still think an April 2014 at the NYIAS to coincide perfectly with the 50th anniversary of the unveiling of the original '65 Stang is simply too good an opportunity to pass up for Ford.
However, there might be some fairly close "concept" car before then that would introduce some of the 2015s styling to assuage the retro carmudgeons amongst us. I would surmise that even if they did, they wouldn't even call it a "Mustang" concept, ala the 2003 Mustang Concept, so as to better preserve the impact of the actual official release.

I'm sure we'll see the real deal before April 14,2014. Just getting the marketing , sales, ordering process going should at least take a few months before going into production.
But then again, i could be wrong.
I'll be very surprised if we get any sort of concept...........however, I'll be disappointed if we don't get a teaser on 17th April this year........perhaps a silhouette of the profile or front end, or at least a small detail of the car.
I know that may seem unusual 12 month before launch, but I'd like to see Ford preparing us for the 50th, even if that teaser is a one-off until much closer to the big reveal.
C'mon Ford, give us something

I think the only way we dont see the real deal is if Ford either A) Plans for the 2014 production to run 18 months, give or take a few weeks. B) The 50th Anniversary car is based on the 2014 and drops this April and runs til April 2015 for the launch of the all new S550 based Mustang. Maybe all these spy shot arent of 2015 parts testing but the upgrades being done for the anniversary edition which is why they are using the S197 chassis mules. This would follow Fords standard 10 yr anniversary patterns, which has been to have the 10yr car with anniversay package then follw that with an all new or highly refreshed model. Since the untro of the 2011, production has started in Jan of the previous year. Just like now, its March 2013 and the 14s are already being delivered, where it used to be Sept when new models launched rolling through that current production year.
