I have a 2015 GT base with the standard 18in wheels and tires. I really want the 19in performance pack wheels and tires, and I think I can get them for cheap. Can I simply just make the swap, or is there anything else I HAVE to do?

Think you have to have ford flash your car so the speedo will be right.

Looks like a 1.5% rolling diameter difference. That's within the spec to just bolt on and go.

You might need to reset the TPMS but even if so, I doubt that will be difficult. It may even be something you can do through the menus.

Thanks....I think they're arriving Monday, maybe even Saturday. So, hopefully I will be able to get them installed asap!

 

Am I going to need spacers? My fear is that I will be sitting will the tires off ready to go, and then find out that I needed spacers. I am installing them Saturday, so any help would be appreciated!

 

Unless you are trying to push the wheels out there is no need for spacers.

Also, if you're planning on running spacers, be sure to schedule an appointment with a cranial injury specialist.

 

I put my performance pack wheels and tires on yesterday, and what a difference it makes on her looks!! She feels nicer on the road as well - much more grip. Only issue I had was that I had to go out buy a new torque wrench because these puppies had to be torqued to 150lb/ft. Well not so bad, I got a new tool! I'm trying to post pics, but this site is not allowing me. Couldn't be happier.

Hi, just read this. Are you sure about the 150lb/ft...? I think 100lb/ft is the number for these cars.

 

I thought it seemed high as well, but it's in that manual.

 

hmmmmmmm . . . . I'm betting that is a typo; can't think of why the torque would be higher . . . . except I did hear that the studs are different size and thread from prior years . . . . finer pitch thread needs higher torque to get same preload

 

When I asked the guy at Ford, he told to follow the manual....so I did.

 

You have that backwards, finer thread pitch requires less torque to get the same preload.

Finer thread pitch fasteners are stronger than the same size course thread due to the larger tensile area. They are also less likely to loosen due to vibration because of the shallower helix angle in the thread.
