Paddle Shifters
Paddle Shifters
Will the 2015 automatic transmission Mustangs have a "+/- gate" on the shift lever in addition to the paddle shifters? If not, that's a problem, IMHO. I have a Fusion Titanium with steering wheel-mounted paddles, and they are virtually useless when you are making a turn. You can't find them!
My wife's Infiniti Q50 has stationary, column-mounted paddles -a much better way to go.

No, the shifter won't have a manual push/pull +/-
I agree, having column mounted paddles makes more sense, but with regards not being able to find a paddle in the middle of a turn, surely you'd want to have changed gear before you get to the turn

I know... they're quite the thing now. My 2010 Taurus (non SHO) wasn't a high end sports car. But there they were, in the way. Hated them in the Taurus, hate them in my Challenger. If I want to shift, I'll go back to the auto. To each his own, I reckon.
Is that a deffo? Presumably the stick will have a setting to keep the transmission in full manual mode if required. If the paddles are located on the steering wheel not having an option to change on the gear lever is a right pain!

I keep my hands at 9 & 3. When I have to shift, the paddles are always at the ready because my fingers are always in line with the Paddles, even on the rare occasion I need to down shift, on a curve/corner to keep the RPMs up, it's never been a problem.
My last Mustang was a 12 BOSS 302 MT, I ordered an LE with Auto because it's gonna be my DD. The BOSS was fun about 50% of the time, but with all the congested traffic and too many stop lights, it becomes work after awhile.
So, I'm OK with the Auto and I understand the argument for Manual vs Auto.
I asked my Dealer if I could Drive a 14 GT with Manual & one with Auto, to refresh my memory and help me decide if the Mustang with an Auto would be fun...Well I ordered the LE W Auto...Go try it, the Auto in 'S' holds the gear and isn't all that bad-->IMO!

This from Lqqk is I roll also. Column mounted paddles would be way to stupid IMO

After having been stuck in a focus rental for 3 days while my ST was in for a TSB, I can tell you Ford doesn't have the whole double clutch auto thing figured out yet. That transmission is terrible.
Is itz true, that the paddel shifters will be only in S-Mode active - but not in "D"?
Does the Mustang shift down, when you are in "Manual"-Mode and too Floor the pedal? (This is an annoying feature on my Euro-Focus)

However, you should know that if you put the Mustang in manual mode and you forget to downshift when slowing down or coming to a stop, the transmission will protect itself and downshift for you so you don't damage the converter or transmission.
