The next SVT model

With the debut of the all new 2015 Mustang now having been unvieled how long do we have to wait for the top Mustang to be unleashed?

Will Ford wait until the 2016 model year or will we see it this year?

We know they have been doing testing based off of spy photos. Chevy has the ZL1 out and the new Vette could use some competition. I think Ford should launch the SVT version sooner rather than later.

They did keep the 2010 GT500 around the same time as the GT.

Thoughts?

I'm excited to see if they make another Mach 1. Also, what ever happened to the limited edition 2014.5 models they were supposed to offer?

As far as Chevy, the new Z28 Camaro is one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen. It looks like a tank...a really ugly tank.

They will make an SE prob in 2016 or 2017. I just can't believe Ford would let the year go by with just the GT being top dog.

It will probably be 2016. Who knows if Shelby is still in the mix or just SVT. Might have something to do with it though.

They went 2 years with no SVT model when the 2005 was introuduced so no surprise there.

Yeah but the difference was Ford didn't have competition from Chevy. I can see why they would off but can they afford to from a competitive stand point?

Relatively low production cars. So I'd think at least a year.

Cool

It may be a year, but we know Shelby American signed a deal with Ford for the use of the Shelby name. I am sure Shelby American does not want to wait any longer than the rest of us for a higher performance Mustang.

It's a brand new model, SE's etc. occur in later years because it's all about keeping excitement in the consumer base.
The ONLY thing that might change that is if sales are weak.

It will be 2 years before the big dawg model gets rolled out.
The Chevy competition thing is a non issue. How many years did it take Chevy to roll out the ZL1? And they had competition right from the start from Ford.

You'll see something like a California Special in '16 and then the SVT will come in '17.

The big reason I think it will be sooner rather then later is because of the test mules. Why would we even be seeing spy shots and clips if the car is 2 years out?

I do think we will get an SE in '16. Mach 1 or GT350. Only time will tell.

Also if Ford was gonna wait then why was a '10 GT500 produced? They could have waited til '12 the rolled out a GT500. It's all about demand.

Do I want them to get it right yes, but it seems like development has been side by side with the V6/GT from the start.

It just isn't going to happen IMO. First off, the reveal of the '15 is only a few days old and already you're asking for an SVT model. We don't know what numbers the '15 is going to lay down on the track yet.
One thing you need in the auto business is patience.

Why was the '10 GT500 produced??? I don't even understand your point? It was not a new model, it was a refresh of the 05-09 platform.
The '15 is a COMPLETELY RESTYLED car from top to bottom.

Geez, Ford can't even take a moment to relax from all of their efforts and some people are screaming for more (even before knowing what they have).

I'm ready to but in mid 2014 to early 2015 so I hope they have a Boss replacement by then. Was thinking used Porsche but I'd be happy to stay with a better quality Mustang.

Hmmm... wonder what will be out? I really feel the next SVT cars are going to be well beyond my price range and a fully loaded GT is going to be as expensive or more expensive than when I bought the GT500 new so that's my price cap (between 45-50k).

The GT500 will be paid off next summer and I want to put away for a big fat down payment so the next Mustang will be in 2-3 years. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised with whats available in my price range in a non SVT SE if it comes along since I really think the GT350 will be at least 60k with no optional equipment.

I read somewhere that the top dogs will be released during the 2014 year sometime. I hope they are worth the wait!

I really hope not another California Special...
Nowadays, a four cylinder ecoboost will be the california emissions special.

I'd love just a simple SVT Mustang, a Shelby GT350 (Boss Replacement), GT, EcoBoost, & V6.

I'm glad we're moving away from sticker packages though.
However, I'm cool with a 50th Anniversary Sticker package.

My lineup would be V6, "SVO", GT, Mach 1, SVT Cobra. A mixture of past models, with current technology!

Perfect! I do think the Shelby name will come out again but I am easily content with Mach 1 instead.

Right on my brother!
If it doesn't have the log style rear end, give me a dragstrip tuneable suspension without resorting to 90/10 shocks.
