I'm making the assumption that the 5.0 tt might be significantly lighter. The shelby is an awesome car, but less weight and specifically over the front end would be a really good thing.

 

I bet it could no problem and have more power under the curve, especially a 4v DOHC VVT 6.2 (and can't ALuminum heads and an ALuminum block).

 

5.4 SC with an alumin block to cut down on the weight. My main issue with my 2007 GT500 was the weight over the front...very heavy - weight KILLS perfromance/handling....that would be one sweet engine for sure

I honestly think we'll see an entirely new engine set up for the next-gen GT500.

For the next next-generation, I mean. Ford's spent money researching the aluminum block for the GT500, I'm sure -- they're not going to use it for two or three years, then toss it to the side. I'd be willing to bet they've done just as much research on the limitations of that aluminum 5.4L as they have on the 5.0L -- and that the 5.4L still has some life left in her.

 

I'm sure the bulk of the research into an AL/AL 5.4 was done with the GT(40) and this is the wet sump port. No need to reinvent the wheel.

 

Looks like this poll needs to be updated to include a supercharged version of the 5.0L Coyote. Most of the rumors now center around this being used in the Aussie Falcon as well. I would expect that combination would be even lighter than the aluminum block 5.4L. I wonder what the benefit would be from using direct injection with a supercharger? Seems the Coyote has been designed with the capability of adding both on future versions.
