New prototype video - 26th June
The spy shots are, of course, also great (and free!) publicity for Ford, hence why I have that feeling it not quite the cat and mouse game that its made out to be

It's still fun though, and I get a real buzz from it.

I'd love to know the real relationship between spy photographers and the test drivers and manufacturers. I'm pretty sure the regular spies like Chris Doane must have inside knowledge, with the likes of Ford letting them know when prototypes are going to be on the road. It wouldn't be in Chris' interest to rip the covers of for one big exclusive as I'm sure Ford would then do their best to ensure he doesn't get within 2 blocks of them.

V6s deserve some props!
Finally! Someone agrees that V6 buyers love an aggressive sounding exhaust note
We buy a Mustang is to have a cool looking and sounding car that is capable of heart thumping performance. The 3.7 has elevated the V6 Mustang to that state
I would be more than happy to shell out the extra money for that upgrade even as part of a performance package. For many of us the V6 is a great balance and true value. Since buying my '11 Vert, I have put about $4K into upgrades to this base model and it is more than even the best Ford V6 offerings to date and came in less than a premium trim

Having a performance exhaust option is the obvious solution.
The standard V6 driver wants a quiet ride, not a loud exhaust. They would not sell more of them. The average person is turned off by a louder than average car.
I drive a 2007 GT with 550hp (480whp) and a mild exhaust sound level, and I wish the exhaust was quieter. After driving it around for 6 1/2 years nearly everyday, I'd rather it was quiet as stock...so I can hear my supercharger more lol.
But seriously, a louder V6 as standard equipment would be a bonehead move.
Paying to have your car be more quiet is not something rental car fleets want to do, nor does your average buyer.
Th GT should carry an exhaust cutout option like the Z06. The enthusiast would find that a very attractive option. There are times when I want it to scream, and times when I want a whisper quiet ride.

A dual mode performance exhaust option would be nice. Maybe keep the flaps/cutouts on the mid-pipe that way those v6 drivers that DO want a lil more aggressive note under spirited driving will be able to enjoy their cars exhuats without having to shell out money for a new exhaust set-up. It would be a really nice option, now just to figure out how to make it work across the range to fit the different motor sizes (2.5", 3")

This made me chuckle...........watch this updated video.....most you've seen before, but there are a couple more shots you haven't........including, at about 2m2secs.......it appears the test driver is filming the spy photographer

Personally, I don't think Mustangs of any displacement should be rental cars nor, do I believe they should be skewed to automatics for the V6 and sticks for the V8. Regarding the exhaust, our cars reflect our personalities and rental cars reflect no ones personality - generic. I'm just grateful that there is a huge aftermarket. My point was that having a factory exhaust option for all the levels would be a good thing EOS!
I feel the opposite, there's no way for the factory to make everyone happy. That's precisely what the aftermarket is for. Some want a deeper tone while others want a louder, higher pitched sound and so on and so on.
Is anyone else thinking the 50th will reintroduce a notchback, fastback and convertible? It's possible, after all Mustang is a brand onto itself. And the notchback and 'vert could be the platforms for Lincoln variants.
They don't have to make it scream, just sound a little better. I suspect the 'standard V6 driver' DOES want a quiet ride... but I don't think 'average' Mustang shopper is looking for that. They expect some exhaust note. If they want quiet, they'll look at the Fusion.
Yeah, quantity and quality of an exhaust sound are two very different things and all too often, more of the former comes at the expense of the latter. Any monkey can make a loud exhaust -- heck, just go straight pipes -- but it takes some skill to make a good sounding exhaust, whatever its dB level.
