The New Mustang Goes Into Mass Production
I'm old school and have loved the Mustang since I first saw one on the showroom floor in '64 when I was 12. I lost interest after the early 70's, got tickled a little with the Fox body.
Passion waned until the intro of the S197 in '05. Now that got my attention in a big way. I finally found myself behind the wheel of a '14 GT 'vert a little over two months ago. I got mine off the showroom floor and I was 12 years old again looking at a Mustang for the first time.
I don't think the S550 is ugly. I refuse to bash it. Frankly, it's a great looking car, but it just doesn't say Mustang to me like mine does. I see the connection to it's predecesors from the 60's and early 70's, and that probably has something to do with 10 model years of seeing the S197 on the road.
Perhaps in time the S550 and it's future changes will evoke those same images and feelings, but the new design is too drastic of a departure for my tastes at this point. It doesn't mean it's a bad design, it simply means that I prefer what I prefer.
I hope Ford sells a ton of 'em. The marque needs to be kept alive.
But this is for certain....I'm sure glad Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet when the PintoStang was introduced. I shudder at what our posts would be like.
Like Kona Blue said, it's all good.
The 2015 looks fine, and I'm sure in time and when people get their paws on one with custom accessories, they will look great. I'm not a super fan of the rear quite yet, and the front seems a bit wide also.
This happens a lot when the new models are released. Some like it, some don't. I for one do like the outgoing 2014 and is why I ordered a new one and just got it a week ago.
Personally I like some of the outgoing models better than the new ones. Not all, but many, and this holds true to me for the 2015.
1970>1971
1993>1994
2014>2015
This is my personal take ;-)
