It looks like the new airbox is a little bigger, but I agree. The new engine doesn't look as neatly arranged and beefy. Some of the hose and cable routing in the 2015 is a little sloppy as well.

 

Coolant reservoir looks like a hippopotamus. Fugly.

I too am in agreement with the two uglified mentions, the covers, and the radiator tank.

Especially the tank. Seriously. That's hideous.

The covers look afterthought-ish. Like "Well... we should change it, because 'new', but.. eh."

 

The airbox looks narrower than the '14s. I don't like how they are adding more plastic to the engine bay, that's one thing I love about the 05-14s. They just seem more use accessible.

 

Looks cheap. The old one looked more upscale, classy.

 

I did notice the accordion style sound tube appears to be replaced with a formed hose. That style hose looks a bit cleaner.

But look at the big **** black box looking thing in the middle of the sound tube just hanging in space on the right side of the engine (was a smaller disk on current generation over on the fender). That looks pretty bad/ugly.

 

Like the 2010-2012 had a diaper for back plastic bumper, the 2015 has a "Human Kidney" for Coolant reservoir.

 

After seeing the 2015 mustang in person they could literally put a human organ in there and I would still love it :-)

 

You might need to sell one to get a 2015.

Nope, although I wish they would. You can see it's covered on the left with the two battery cables near by. The ground is disconnected.

 

All that mess for another 15hp? For a car that's aiming to be world-class, the engine bay appearance ain't.

I get a lot of positive comments on mine, but I'm convinced the reason it looks so nice is that the engine bay on the '14 was so well designed and organized in the first place that it lends itself very well to simple cosmetic mods.

The 2015 aftermarket guys sure have their work cut out for them.
