Local dealer wants $5000 over MSRP for Anniv.
Sent them an email and they said I could get it for $5000 over MSRP. Sorry, don't want it that bad. I did email them back and ask about the X plan pricing for it. Of course I asked them that in my first email, but they ignored that question.

I really doubt they have X-plan for the 50th anniversary car. I've never met anybody who snagged a GT500 for X-plan.

Ba ha ha ha. And so the games begin with the new mustang. Get used too it boys for the next year. Consumers will be foolish to pay thousands over MSRP for the anniversary edition along with the 2015's and love it.

Who really cares how much a dealer asks for? The more important question is how much will they really sell it to a serious customer for? The transaction price is the important detail - not the starting point of the negotiation.

in '05 getting a GT stick in Ohio could cost you 10k over... know of one dude that tracked his 5k over ordered car, found dealer traded it at 10k over to another dealer. get ready for the dealer shenanigans...
few will get a Anniversary model without getting bent over for it. Highest allocations in the country go to florida, I'd suggest contacting Gary Yeomans in Daytona if they are still the same dealer...I was in florida on vacation when my 06 order arrived in Ohio, had it not, I likely woulda drove one of their dozens of GT sticks on the lot home... at that time the entire 'pittsburgh region' - including our chunk of Ohio- was only getting 6 gts a week to split among 99 dealers in the region... yet Gary Yeomans had 20 on the lot, not to mention all the ordered ones they were pushing thru. there was a guy in here -Carlos Medina- at Yeomans who could get cars in/drop shipped north to local dealers at a good price- he was a great asset to mustang fans, but moved on to other things... dunno if they can still get the allocation leverage, or cut deals like Carlos, but I'd suggest asking them or one of the other huge dealers in Florida.
Fords allocation system sucks, if demand is high, shop to the south

Not at all surprising. When the '08 Bullit edition came out my dealer had it available for $5K over sticker, while an even better equipped GT on the lot was available for $5K under. Guess which I drove home with. I can do a lot of paint for $10K.

One member on here just paid 2 k over MSRP for the anniversary edition.

Yep, and I'll tell you why it doesn't bother me that much. I bought my Boss from this dealer at invoice, and it was the only one he got. I bought my MKS at invoice. They treat me like a king when I bring my car in for service. Would I feel better about paying MSRP for the 50th? You bet. But all things considered, I think I came out good.

There is but ONE solution to this shenanigans thing.
Don't buy the car if you won't pay the mark up.
If I am freaking rich, heck yeah I'll pay the extra money... because I'd have it, new, out of the showroom...
...and you don't.
That's why they can, and will, and DO, ask and get this money. Because of people like me who don't care what you think... I have the car. Neeners.
Anyway, complain all ya want, but if you really want it to stop, strike against the Ford Dealerships, and make sure any scabs who try to cross the line and pay up to get that 50th know they're gonna get a talking to.
Matter of fact, let's round up the list of people who pay more than MSRP, and ensure that any time they're seen, any other Mustangers point at them and say "That guy is an overpayer! What a moron! What a jerk! Overpayer, over here!"
Like I'd care. My car is pretty. Drives off.
/I love these threads. So entertaining.

I personally would never pay above MSRP for a car regardless having the funds to do so or not but that's just me. I wouldn't let any dealership bend me over and hit me dry, but that's just me. I have no issues with a person who doesn't mind getting bent over by a dealership and willing to pay thousands over MSRP.
Chevy dealerships did the same thing when the new Camaro came out back in 2009 and were charging thousands more over MSRP. Two years later you can buy the cars for near invoice or invoice cost.
There are always those who need the latest and greatest and willing to pay far more for the newest but the newest doesn't last that long.

Dealerships in my area routinely mark up the exciting/rare models. 12-13 Boss was +$5k over MSRP. 12-14 Shelby was/is +$10k over MSRP. Same thing over at Chevy for 1LE, ZL1, C7, and soon-to-be Z/28. Nuts. Managed to get a super deal on my 2011 GT three years ago, and they treat me great, so go figure.

it likely will- its supply and demand...
I just hope the good folks making deals early get their cars, ADM or not dont matter, its a buyers decision- but back in 05 I know a lot of good faith buyers had ordered cars (even with ADM) that 'never got built' according to dealers, yet same dealers were selling the hard to get cars for even higher ADMs... if a 5 over order dealer suddenly realizes he can get 10-15 over, the temptation is there for the original deal to vaporize... lots of folks got screwed during the rush for the 05s, and there will be under 2000 50ths EVER... odds I'd say are near 100% dealer shenanigans could be worse than 2005

I love the stench of desperation. It fills the air with a sweet aroma of must have first syndrome. That's awesome to pay 50k for the 14 1/2 50th anniversary stang. The 2015 models will be back down to near invoice by late 2015. Ha ha ha
