Headlights are growing on me, not perfect but very good. I like the tri-bar headlight LEDs they will give the Mustang an unmistakable look at night so when one is creeping up people will know its a S550. I also LOVE the rear tri-bar. Its hard to imagine they were able to top the 2013-2014 refresh of the tailights, but they did. 10/10 on the rear LEDs.

BTW, kind of a dis on the Fox Body, they completely discount the cheese grater as tri bar? They were kind of tri bar, in a Fox Body kind of way:
BTW, love em or hate em (and I think many hate them based on how many swap outs there are) the cheese graters are so iconic to me. I love them. They only other tail lamp from the Fox era that I like better and only on the 93 cobra itself are the SVO tails.

Actually the tri bar LEDs on the front are more related to the original 1965 scallops that were between the headlight and grille rather than anything to do with the tri-bar tail lights.

Fox body is its own thing, with its own people that love it, rest of us like me, try not to bring it up not to try and hurt those peoples feeling.
The moment I show people how Mustang looked in 1980s, most go " thats a MUSTANG!!?" OMG what the hell happened! its so (all censored words) ugly!"
they look back at the 65-72, then back at 1980s and think, how on earth did it all go so wrong?!

I think a lot of the people that don't care for the fox cars were born in the 80's or 90's and older folks who were born in the 40's, 50's and early 60's.

Being born in 72 the Fox was the Mustang of my teenage years. Loved it. The 60's Stangs were the originals and were gorgeous in the 80's but the Fox was an 80s car and that's what 80's cars looked like. It was the 80's pony car and therefor a true Mustang.
I'm definitely glad they existed and glad I can still own one. I love that car.
I'm biased but I think they look clean and I love the size of them.

I was born in 87. I love the Fox. My dad had a 92 notch 5.0 LX. They also had an 86 Capri 2.3 when I was born. Those were my first experiences with Mustangs, at least in real life and not from a book (of which there were many Ford and/or Mustang books in my house growing up).

I totally get how some HATE the Fox. I get it. However have you never seen show quality Fox bodies and not at least appreciated that they can be pretty stunning looking cars? A show quality 93 Cobra, 87-93 GT and or LX can be quite nice looking, with some tasteful mods the notchbacks which are probably the most love/hate of all the Foxes can also be quite nasty looking. As in mean and tough looking. The right angles etc are classic 1980s. Would be horrible today, but one thing is for sure they stand out a lot more than the SN95-present which are very different but in a more subtle manner.
My biggest mistake was selling the 93 GT in my avatar when I had "grown out of it" after college. My biggest dream is to get a pristine 93 cobra as a weekend driver someday.
BTW I was born in 1980, Fox were all the rage even in the mid 90s when I was in HS, everyone had a Fox 5.0.
I'm going to hijack my own thread with a couple of pics of what I'm talking about. If the mods delete them for being in the wrong forum I'm sorry in advance!
Notchback:
Please do not equate the above 3 with the 4 cylinder Foxes that look like this:

Wrong.....I was born in the 80's and me and all my friends loved the fox growing up through the 90's. Also my dad was born in the 40's and he owned 2 foxes. Each generation was its own thing in a sense tailored to the times but my fox still got lots of respect well into the early 2000's.

Those 4 banger foxes make great projects!

And to the guy above who put them down...well your just wrong! The foxes were beautiful! They were simple, clean, relatively inexpensive.

Count me as one who never cared for the Fox cars from a styling standpoint. The proportions do somehow communicate "performance" but they just look like a tarted up Faimont. The GTs with the plastic goodies tacked on just never looked good to me.
Purely personal taste....and the performance potential is undeniable regardless of how they look.
I think the late notch LX cars are good looking in an all-business kind of way.

I was born in the '50s and have owned several years and generations of mustangs including a 65 coupe, 69 Boss 429 and my current 70 Mach 1 428CJ and 99 Cobra. I also have a 68 Cougar with a 390 which is more or less a Mustang in Mercury skin. While I never owned a true Fox Mustang I did have an 86 5.0L Capri for a few years. I have also never owned an S197 although I would like to have a 12 or 13 Boss 302. The Capri was a fun car if it was a little rough around the edges. I came close to wrecking that car more than anything I ever owned. Too much torque for the suspension, I guess. It was definitely an exiting ride but not something I felt very safe driving in bad weather.

Indeed, I had a 91 LX 5.0 hatch but I've always loved the business look of the LX trunk cars.
The first time I tried to get a Mustang back in the 90's on my meager pay I went down to the stealership and tried to get them to order an LX trunk with no AC or radio, cloth interior and the M5 with the optional final gear.
The salesman told me no problem it would be 16k and I needed a 50% deposit "BUT" he had a loaded LX hatch on the lot for 14k
I wasn't looking for a cheap ride so much as I just wanted the fastest and lightest Mustang I could get my hands on in 1992. I would have gladly paid 16k to have gotten what I wanted.

I'd argue that, most of the kids I see today just consider the Fox cars ugly really only liking the SN95/New Edge cars and up with the common refrain I get from folks older than my generation is that all the cars from the 80's on up look the same with the exception of the retro cars.
Hell when Ford introduced the S-197 there was a notable absence of fox cars in their promotional material (one commercial in particular featured every generation but the 79-93 cars). You don't think that was by accident do you?

Even non-car and non-mustang fans consider the 1965-1971 Mustangs to be very good looking.
That is sad that Ford didn't include more about the Fox bodies in the S-197's promotional material....trying to sweep the fox body under the rug isn't cool lol
