Personally, I think this is how Ford should had designed the rear end section on the 05-14 S-197 Mustang to begin with..

Well first no disrespect meant and I absolutely love the fastback look! But IMHO I need the fastback look to have some angularity to it like the '69. This one is just too much roundness for my liking! See my pic closeup and the square exhaust further complicates this look. I love the new '15 but my biggest beef is with the rear it's too roundish for my liking! :-) Attachment 166058 Attachment 166059

I also agree about the rectangular shape exhaust on the Iaccoca Mustang not looking quite right either and would've looked much better with traditional round tips instead.
I also see your point concerning the 15 being a bit too curvy and the Iacocca Mustang having too much roundness and not enough angularity to them..
This is only a guess on my part, but the only logical reason I can think of as to why Ford didn't design the 2015 with more angularity like the 69 has ? Is Ford didn't want the new 15 to appear as though they were attempting to re-clone a 69 and wanted to move in a more modern direction and less retro ala (05-14) S-197..
I suppose the reason behind liking the Iacocca 45th anniversary edition so much, is it reminded of the 67-68 fastback body style which was my favorite body style followed by the 69-70..
But on the other hand, the Iacocca Mustang would perhaps had looked a bit better and less rounded with actual hips in it's quarter panels

Yeah Rocky I'm partial to the '69 body style but the '68 is probably my second favorite choice! I'm glad that Ford is going in a new direction and I really wouldn't hesitate to get a new one if I didn't already own my dream car! Butt get it that's the only problem I have with the '15!!! :-)

I know exactly what you mean Gary, as I also really like the new 2015 as well..
If only I had a 2 car garage and could financially afford having 3 cars which include what I still owe on my wife's 2013 Escape, plus adding a new 15 to my stable ? I wouldn't hesitate for a moment in getting one..
However, as much as I like the new 15's.. I am too attached to my current 2006 GT and I will not get rid of it
