Excited for a 2021 Mach 1?
So I've owned a '14 GT Track Pack, turned it into a medium duty Road Course car, and then sold it and moved to Germay. Now I own a BMW M2 and attack Nurburgring Nordschleife, Spa Francorchamps, and Hockenheimring circuits. But I'm slated to come home in 2021. And been looking for a new car. I have been considering Camaros, C7 Corvettes, and now also the Mach 1 Mustang. This thing sounds exciting. Like a GT350 without the reliability problems. Anyone else excited for this car??

The new Mach I does sound interesting, but I am not ready to give up on my S197. It is a little easier to stomach tracking a car that is paid for than one with a big bank note. If I were in your position it would be on my short list. I am not a die hard Ford guy, but I own two right now. I have owned Trans Am's and a couple of Corvettes in the past. The Mustang is just a lot of car for the money. I rode a few laps around Sebring in a GT350 a couple of years ago and it was amazing for a bone stock car. A car with that level of performance and a less exotic engine would be hard to resist.

That's the appeal. I hope the reported info is true. A 525hp and 450bl-ft Coyote would be sweet. I'm not loyal to a particular brand, I go for whatever meets my needs at a particular price point. But I did have a great experience with my S197 GT. I love the sound of the Coyote and if this car turns out to be essentially a
- GT350 chassis/suspension/brakes/
- Tremec 6-speed
- NA V8 (with all of the reliability of the Coyote), making 525hp/450lb-ft
- all starting at ~$50k ...
... then this might be the one. Let's wait and see.
I loved the GT350, and the sound of the flat plane crank. But at mid $60k price, it was too much. 1SS 1LE was just as quick at $15k less. Also the oil consumption issues and fairly high failure rate of the engine was a big downer. At over $10 less I'd gladly give up the sound, and take Coyote reliability instead.

Ford released it virtually today. Still hoping for more than 480hp/420tq this suggests. I think 500 is a nice round number to aim at. Aftermarket will take care of the rest.
It is kind of funny that we are disappointed with only 480 HP. My Gen 1 Coyote was factory rated at only 412 HP and I thought it was impressive at the time. It is amazing how fast you get used to what you have and want more.

Ha, I see your point. But the cars have been getting heavier. I think your Gen1 Coyote was what 3600lbs? The Mustang porked up to over 3800lbs lately. So it needs more power! And who wouldn't love 500hp??
I am not saying that I would not want 500 HP and yes I agree that the S550 has gotten a bit heavy due to the addition of the IRS. It is just funny how expectations change over time. It wasn't that long ago that a Mustang GT was 315 HP and considered a fast/powerful car. Now we are disappointed when one is less than 500 HP. 480 HP is still very respectable even given the weight gain. I am sure the aftermarket will have the over 500 at the flywheel soon enough. Good luck on what ever you buy when you get back state side.

Saw the videos and pictures the morning they came out. Really like the new nose. It is an improvement over the GT. Leans to the GT350. White (or maybe Gray?) one is pretty sharp with the Orange & Performance packages. I too would like to see 500hp, but 480 is close. Sounds like something to take a closer look at when they are order available.

I have to admit the look of the new Mach 1 is starting to make me warm up to the S550. I still think the 2011-2012 S197 is a better looking car, but I am starting to warm to the new design. I really like the look of the splitter and wing on the handling package cars as well as the new stripe packages. The car has a lot to offer for the track junkie with oil coolers for the engine, transmission, and rear differential. The handling package cars will probably come in close to $60k, which isn't bad for the level of performance, but I am still not sure I would be comfortable with risking that much money on the track.

I'm also glad to see all the cooling, as it will pay dividend on track. I hope that the Handling pack is still in mid $50k range. Perhaps $57k with the Recaros. Otherwise it's getting too close to GT350 pricing in my opinion.
And i think as long as you invest in Track Insurance, the price of the car doesn't have to matter. That's my plan. I would likely over insure and get coverage for $70k just so that after the 15% deductible it still covers the cost of the car.
EDIT: I just checked pricing with Haggerty track day insurance. $65,000 policy for a 3 day weekend with a 15% deductible is ~$376. At $70k and 15% that jumps to $413.

Orders are opened starting at $53k. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...1-orders-open/
But the pricing is not right. In my opinion anyway. What do you guys think?

First and foremost, I like the new grill, GT's should of had that ship stock in 2015, second, Mach I or c7 corvette, I'd choose the vette personally especially at the price point of the Mach I, maybe if the Mach I had a shaker hood it would have won me over. Just my two cents

My question would be, what comes standard on the Mach 1 compared to the Bullitt? My '19 Bullitt was $51,760 which include the Electronics package and MagnaRide, but no Recaros, I really wanted the heated/cooled seats so Recaros were a Negative for me.
LOL, my 79 Mustang Cobra 302 had 130 HP!!!!! When I got the 87 with 225 I thought that was HUUUUUGE! Then 305 with my 2012 V6 with HPP, my 2014 GT had 420....now my 2020 Ecoboost with the HPP "only" has 332.......the times, they are amazing!!!!
