This concept car has some lines our Stangs could use!
Yep, fully agree and the comments made by Mark Hamilton on the other thead would indicate the 'Stang won't be just a lower Fusion coupe (who's styling was directly influenced by the Evos). And that's a good thing!
Oh, and any new Capri would be a Capri IV. The last of the lines were the IIIs, production of which stopped in '87. But a new Capri is another subject for another day

After hearing the comments by Mark Hamilton I too came away feeling much better about the 2015 Mustang

I was so happy to hear him say the new Mustang won't be just a lowered Fusion Coupe.....the Mustang is a "stand alone vehicle".

I haven't heard anything about a new Capri......has there been talk of a new one?....if so, where would that fit into Ford's lineup? Would they have room for both a Mustang and Capri in Europe? Would a Capri be a smaller FWD Coupe?

Twin Turbo, I just want to add that I appreciate your opinion and input....it's nice to "hear" your perspective
Capri - sorry, off topic
There's been talk of a new Capri for a number of years, ever since of the demise of the FWD Cougar.
To be honest though, the Capri's reputation was pretty poor by the end of its life in '87. By that time, the hot hatch market had taken off and the old RWD/leaf sprung Capri seemed very unfashionable. I guess it's reputation was similar to the F-body Camaro.......you expected the driver to be wearing bleached jeans and a mullet haircut! I had to endure a lot of jibes from mates, but I loved the "old school" feel.
The Capri name has been dead a long time (with the exception of the mid-90's fwd convertible model which was a Capri in name only).
Those that were fans of the Capri would only want it to return if it was true to its old values. Big hairy engine up front (the 2.8 was, and still would be, seen as a BIG engine), and RWD in a sexy retro-ish body.
So, for me the Capri can only be one thing, and that's a rebodied '15 Mustang. It needs a nice V6, but not necessarily a V8. Whilst the South African Perana Capri had a V8, its still seen as a bit of an oddball, in the UK, at least. It'd also need an Ecoboost 4 cylinder and probably a diesel or two, too, if it's to sell in big numbers.
I'd welcome a new smaller FWD coupe, either based off the Focus or Fiesta. 4-cylinders only for these though. And DON'T call it a Capri. Puma, or something new all together is fine

To me the name of a car is pretty important as well and can be the difference maker in sales. Prime example: capri? Is just sounds like a bad name for a car, idk if its just me or what! Reminds me of those pants/shorts women wear! Mustang is a cool name but when you say Cobra or boss it just sounds super awesome!! Anyone see where im coming from?
I'm with you.
Capri (you're 'sposed to think of the island in the Mediterranean Sea, not womens clothes
) was originally code named Colt (a variation on Mustang, which the car was apeing). Back in the late 60s, when the Capri was launched, package holidays to Europe and the Med were just taking off, so something like Capri was once seen as something cool and trendy. I think if the Capri had lived continuously, just like the Mustang, the name may still have held enough clout to be re-used. Now? I'm not so sure.
You're right though. Puma sold very well in the UK and Cougar still sounds really cool. It still has to be a good car to back up a cool name though

I like that a lot. Especially the head lights, grill shape, stance. Would be really cool if the gray area at the bottom front would drop down at speed for a splitter scoop. Needs a vent in the hood though to let air out.

I also really like the bigger grille from your sketch. My theory? Ford introducted the bigger GT500-alike grille on the '13 to get us ready for a big grille on the '15. Of course, I'm probably way off base
