Budget rent-a-racer
This past weekend, I have been in Atlanta on family business, And by default, I was given a '15 GT-5spd(for $87 for Friday night thru Monday, no less). First impressions: the shifter is pretty boxy, 1st gear is too low, most importantly- did Ford or budget, "de tune" the engine a little for it's time in the "trenches"? Our/my gt-premium at home seems a whole lot more "eager" to freely bake the tires! Lastly- those of you that go with the "stripper GT" don't know what you are missing!!- this interior is Spartan, the seats aren't as comfy, and I miss all the trinkets and toys in the fancy model. However- if you had NEVER driven the fancier car, this car would be the steal of the decade, if purchased for less than 30K! Ordered with the 3:31 rear, with a taller rear tire and bigger bars, this thing would be a TOTAL canyon carver! Lastly- LEAVE the steering in sport mode! This just about makes it as close as it will ever get it to the original "Bullet" car.

To those that asked: the rental company was Budget. To the other poster: yes, several companies will rent you manual. After some more time to reflect, I still think the "stripper" is one heck-of-buy, if bought below 30k. Maybe if someone wanted a weekend racer or track car, one should buy one when they take these rentals out of service?

I've seen a lot of people on the forum use 5 speed to mean manual. They did this even when both the auto and manual had 5 speeds. Typically if they say 5 speed or 6 speed, they mean the manual. Otherwise they say auto.
