Best Hood Struts

Hello Everyone! It's good to be back on here again. I was overseas in Japan for the last few years. Bought a new 2015 Mustang last summer and I'm finally getting around to adding a few things. I wouls love to finally get some hood struts. I Have seen many on the market. What are your comments on the ones that you have? Thanks

I have the MMD ones from American Muscle. They were easy to install, work well and don't require trimming any of the under hood plastic.

Has anybody tried the Ford Racing hood struts ? They look very similar to the Redline product but a few $$ cheaper .

Best one out there is the Roush. Small compact. Stays out of your way. Check it out.

Can I entice you with the Steeda unit - http://www.steeda.com/steeda-s550-mu...-all-555-0687/

We have some great reviews on our site & great forum pricing too!

I COULDN'T BE ANY HAPPIER!
I was taking pics of my engine bay about a month ago and was getting sick of having someone open the hood due to the hood prop always getting in the pics. I did some shopping around for hood struts and found a few different brands available. In the end I decided to go with the Steeda hood struts and I couldn't be any happier! They were a few more dollars than comparable models, but I soon saw how incomparable they really are. With most hood struts you will need at least 2 people to install, make sure the hood is aligned perfectly, and always have to make sure the points of the hood don't fall back. Well put all that aside when you purchase this set, I was able to do the complete install myself in about 10 min. The struts mount to the hood while the hood is still raised, no need to take all bolts off. I love the detail of the Steeda emblem on the struts. Best of all is just how clean they look and the obvious of how much happier I am now popping my hood! I would definitely recommend these to any of my S550 brothers/sisters out there!

Thanks for the info. I have heard good things about the Redline and the Steeda. Do they both have their logo's on them? I'm Looking for a clean look. I guess I could always just paint them if I wanted to.

Just the brackets have the logo - should have a nice clean look!

Best Regards,

Always used Redline till I got my 15.They are the best ! When looking at what was available ,I came across Ford Racing struts and purchased a set. All these products look similar but they are not. The FR struts do not have anchors that secure firmly to the fenders . Their shape does not allow them to be solidly anchored at their base and move a little. I like the Ford logo ,but the hood does not very secure. Go Redline !!

I tried these. The struts themselves are beautiful, but I was not at all impressed with the engine side mounts. I couldn't get them to seat properly, and the hardware just isn't well-suited to the slot over the fender. I ended up scrapping them and going with Steeda.

Redline Hood Struts - Not Working as Expected

I own a 2021 Mach 1. I've recently purchased and installed the Redline Hood Struts. Initially they were a great addition, but after opening the hood about 3x over three days they stopped functioning as expected. They don't support the weight of the Hood and they certainly don't lift the Hood. I've gone back to the vendor and they are sending me a replacement set. I'll share outcome asap.
For awareness I live in the Phoenix area and while it gets very hot here, the weather was about 80 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of install. Now we're in the 110 range. I'm hoping the issue gets resolved, but wondering if anyone has had to replace the Redlines on this forum. If yes, how did you resolve?
Any help is appreciated. Love the convenience and look, but why buy iif they dont do the job. Thanks much.
