Has anyone ordered the Ford Factory Enhanced Security Pkg?? Just wondering if it's worth the $400.00 or would you be better off getting an after market system installed.

I have it, but couldn't tell you if it's worth it. I would check with your insurance to see it you get a discount by having it.

What does it do?? I mean a perimeter alarm?? Does it go off if someone gets near it?? How do you know if someone is messing with it, just by if you can hear it?? Wouldn't think that would work too well if you're inside a shopping mall or show. Anyway, just curious if it is something I want when I order my 15. I would think insurance would give you some kind of discount.

Thanks for the response. You're a wealth of knowledge in that you have pretty much what I'm going to order, altho I don't think I'll get the Ruby Red. Pretty much set on the Deep Impact Blue & the PP. I'm going to be in MO end of March beginning of April. Gonna finally be able to test drive one & order my Stang in early April. Living up here in Siberia East is not conducive to test drives. Our local dealer doesn't even have a PP GT as yet.

I know on my 2013, the alarm has interior motion sensors so that if someone cut through the top, it would go off when they stick their hand/arm in the car. Top must be up for motion detector to work.

If it is the same as the 2014 alarm, it immobilizes the car if someone tries to lift the hood, set off the motion sensors inside the car, if they try to tow it, or if it detects an impact.

Aftermarket alarms are quite frankly more annoyance than meaningful these days.

It also has an electric lock for the center console that locks when the car is locked and automatically unlocks when the key is detected.

When I insured my 2014 They told me the discounts are on Passive security What all Mustangs have and it if is garage kept. My Insurance copy could of cared less about the Security package. Those are the big discounts. Don't forget to not have any teens in the house LOL

Thanks guys. Sounds like it's pretty much something I should spend the extra $$ for.

I think it is worth it, and it doesn't go off randomly all the time either. I used to hate that about my aftermarket alarms. Annoyed the crap out of me. The factory alarm will go off if certain conditions are met, but I have yet to have it go off for no apparent reason or because someone's droning exhaust set it off.

Similar system in the 05-09 models but it is not classed as enhanced security.
