You can build a really nice PP GT Premium for just over 40k MSRP. Unless the GT350 is around 50k MAX, NOT FOR ME !! Usually there's no discount on the Shelby type stuff including no X plan or low factory financing (maybe including over MSRP). Scott

 

I agree Scott. It's also a matter of how this car will do for daily driving, and road trips. It will be a beast for the track, but may also be a monster to handle on a regular basis. I don't know, just thinkin' out loud. Logic tells me to just get the GT premium, but the little boy in me say no, no get the 350.

 

It will start at $52,995 according to The Fast Lane Daily. There will be a tech package with dual climate and My Ford touch and a track pack. Prices and content were not available for those 2 options.

 

Do you think there is any chance the GT350 is offered as a convertible? Typically the SVT and Shelby Mustangs have been in the past.

 

Cody ! I really don't see why they wouldn't.. Like you said, Shelby and SVT Mustangs in the past have been offered as convertibles, so can't think of any reason behind Ford changing anything now

 

After ADM markups ! I'll guess between 55-62k.. Add an additional 6k for a convertible

 

I would be surprised if they made a convertible of this one.

 

And why wouldn't they ? Shelby editions have always been available as convertibles, including the original GT350/500 models up to the previous generation 14's !

 

This car's purpose is for road course work. I believe it is unlikely given that mission.

The previous gen 07-14 GT500's were also considered as road course worthy, and yet were also available in convertibles !

 

The 65-66 GT350s were not offered in convertible, plus the "road course" thing leads me to believe no 'vert. I figure its not a definite either way, and a question worth asking.

 

However the 67's and up were !

 

To me, the GT500 was more of a trim package on Steroids. I get the feeling the GT350 is intended more as a track car like the Boss. Doubt it will come as a convertible.

Your point is well taken but it should be noted that there were actually 4 and possibly up to 6 GT350 convertibles built for the 1966 model year depending on who you talk to?

Of course for the 1967 Shelby model year there were also no regular production convertibles in either the GT350 or the GT500 model for this year again but there was 1 "pilot production" or "prototype" GT500 convertible built for the 1967 model year.

I have seen this car in person and it is an incredible vehicle.

I agree with your suggestion that this initial offering will be in coupe form only especially when it comes to the "R" model which will be much more of a track and road course specialty vehicle.

 

Actually there were no regular production GT350 or GT500 convertibles built for the 1967 model year.

Having said that the convertible production for the 1968 GT350, GT500 and GT500KR Shelby's accounted for approximately 30% of the total units built that year which is exceptionally high for any model year.

 

I went to Tasca Ford in Berlin Ct. A satellite branch of THE Tasca Ford in Rhode Island.
They want 50k over sticker to put in an advanced order for the GT350. That's right ....50k over whatever MSRP winds up being.

No lie.......The dingbat salesman went on to tell we what a collectors item it will be and how it's going to be worth so much more in the future.

I just feel that convertibles are too much of an engineering compromise. Making up the body rigidity previously given by the roof is too expensive in terms of weight. I didn't know R&T felt the same way. This has nothing to do with saying "Shelby" on it.
It's debatable whether the GT500 is really road course worthy in its stock form.

 

My mistake ! As I was wrong about any GT350's for the 67 model year being built as convertibles.

However we can both agree and confirm that during the 68 model year, their were indeed both GT350 and GT500 models built in convertibles..

It also appears from your post that I was accurate after you confirmed their were indeed at least 4 1966 Shelby GT350 models built as convertibles, is that accurate ???

 

Yes, Carroll Shelby built 4 GT350 convertibles for the 1966 model year.

I don't recall all of the colors but I have seen a red and blue car and believe there is a maroon colored car and not sure on the 4th car color.
