Plus add the screens to the center display for NAV, Audio and Phone like the others do. It took less time looking for things on the center screen and also allows you to keep your eyes on the road more. My Explorers allowed you to do a multitude of things like change stations/sources, place and answer calls and select/cancel destinations in your favorites and previous destinations. when in NAV mode it showed only the pertinent information like miles/time left to destination and stuff. I makes me want to go back and get a 2015 model LOL! My 2013 even allowed you to make changes to the climate controls but this option was deleted on the 2015 Explorer!

JR,

If the issue occurs again, check out the link I provided to locate another dealer.

If you have issues beyond that. please let me know and we can look in to an escalation if needed.

I haven't called my dealer, yet, but I was able to capture the navigation fault this morning. Luckily, I had just pulled into my company's parking lot, so I didn't need to fumble with my phone while I was driving.

I uploaded this to YouTube to document the issue - https://youtu.be/3WvWi8JDNek

Please let me know what my next step should be.

Thanks,
JR

I believe the dealership is the best step, JR.

Keep me updated.

I just gave Jones Ford a call, and will hopefully have the car in for service sometime next week.

Thanks,
JR

And just a heads up Android Auto only works with Android 5.0 or better!

If your phone doesn't support Android 5.0, it's time to upgrade!

Hopefully Ford rolls out the update soonish...

Whitney -
Last Friday (4-DEC-2015), the issue pops up just as I pull into my office parking lot. I pull out my phone, and get the following video -
- and call to make a service appointment. I brought the car in today, and after checking the system and driving it, again (still not happy that the tech is putting miles on my vehicle), the tech was unable to reproduce. He called the hotline, and was given case number 109428219, and told that no further work is to be done until the tech, himself, can reproduce. I have a couple troubleshooting steps that I can follow, but it doesn't seem like they're going to authorize any troubleshooting of the software, hardware, or antenna, unless the tech himself can reproduce. Since it's very random, and I'm not just going to give this guy my car for a week, I have no real options.

I figured I'd try with you, but I'm also escalating through Deysha, one of the owners of Jones Ford (North Charleston, SC), and he's looking into the issue, as well.

Thanks,
JR

Hey JR,

Since the issue has already been escalated, I'd like to see how that plays out. Hopefully we get a resolution. If for any reason things don't work out, please let me know and we can get the ball rolling on my end.

Keep me updated.

Whitney

Whitney -
We're back to square one with the dealer. I received a call from the owner's rep yesterday afternoon, and they're giving me the runaround because there just aren't enough of these cars on the road for there to be any indication that there's an issue. They're treating it as an isolated case, and like I said earlier, aren't offering any additional troubleshooting or warranty work until the tech can replicate the problem.

Again, my options are to 1 - let the tech drive me car for the next 'n' days, until it fails again, or 2 - deal with the intermittent issue. Neither option is something I should have to do on a $42,000 car.

JR,

Please send me a PM with your VIN, name, email, mailing address, primary phone number, servicing dealership, and current mileage. I'll submit your escalation.

Not an exact time frame, but 2016 cars get it "later this year" and 2017 cars will have it from the factory:

Yes, I got it, thank you. For some reason, sent messages aren't showing up in my 'sent' folder, and I wanted to make sure it went through. You might have received it twice, and for that, I apologize.

Hey CoyotePremium13,

The Android Auto update will be released by the end of the year. Check your SYNC account periodically for more info: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account...p-to-date.html
