This guy is full of it.
Ford, who is based in Michigan and has proving grounds there, went to California to see a focus group to review the new Mustang? Really? And they are releasing a Ecoboost V8? Really? And he never had to sign a waiver? Really?
Nope. This guy is an attention ***** and is feeding a load of B.S.
Edit: Looks like the original thread on AFM got deleted.

Some questions are about what they see, hear, etc.
And some are about future products or trying to get an idea of what the customer thinks of an idea. This doesn't mean the 'widget' is true, its more to gauge reaction, or see how the customer reacts.
EcoBoost V6 was raised on a prior focus group in questions, but we see that we never saw that for the previous gen at all.
This could mearly be a 'would you' question.
This though, I too am suprised about no NDA.
Or... he wasn't telling the truth about one, and now that's why the thread went the way of Jimmy Hoffa.
Wonder if the sharks are swimmin'

Well that's interesting. Anyone know if the two dudes that were posting over there have posted since the thread was deleted or said anything about it? Most of the important stuff is still on Jalopnik or here anyway. Actually it's more or less a good thing since it lends a lot of credibility to their info.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before...
2.0T EcoBoost base model $21k 250hp 35mpg
3.5TT V6 mid range $25k 350hp 31mpg
5.0 V8 upper range GT $30k 450hp 27mpg
5.0TT or 5.8SC $50k 600hp 24mpg
All base prices. Leaves plenty of room for SEs in between GT and Shelby. I could see the NA 3.7 V6 staying though, and 3.5TT as a SE.

Phase one of Ecoboost appears to be adding DI and turbos to existing engine architecture. The next step is designing smaller engines with this at the start to maximize fuel economy and reduce weight by shrinking the size of the motor itself. The 1.6, 2.0, and 3.5 were around or close to release before the big Ecoboost push came around. Now we've seen or heard about a 1.0, 2.3, and others that are smaller and producing similar power figures from the older ones. My point is, don't expect turbos on everything. The volume of a 5.0 V8 is significantly less than any of these motors mentioned.

If current trends are showing of downsizing engines and turbocharging them....
...I'd expect the same for the V8s at some point in the future.
This is why I think we'll see V8s for a long time, just maybe not as big as they used to be. Fine by me if they are reliable and can pound out the power. I wouldn't expect that till the current crop of engines have run their course. And since the 5L is so new and efficient...that could be a while

I don't usually buy the conspiracy theories...........but that thread was a little strange.
I completely believe that the first chap went to the event..........but when the second fella turned up, it was as if they were discribing different cars.....one had a front end similar to the '13 Mustang, the other looked just like a Fusion. One had all red taillights, the others were "black like the '13". Either there were 2 "concepts" or I smell a rat!
I know it doesn't really matter......but I wonder if the second guy was actually someone from the market research company (or Ford) who tried to confuse things before they could get the thread pulled.
You can bet any future customer clinics are going to be having tightend security.......not to mention a bunch of lawyers being present
(BTW, if I get invited to an event, I promise I'll be a good boy and not spill any secrets on here )

It did occur to me that perhaps one of them was actually looking at a '14 Mustang, perhaps with an upcoming appearance package, but I'd think surely he'd recognize it was the current generation car.
