Let's hope they build one!
And, let's hope it's got gobs of power/torque and can put it down!

Click bait.
Who the hel| is autoevolution to know stuff that even Ford doesn't know yet?
I'm gonna start a rumor that it's gonna be a 900-horse 2000 ft-lb torque V12 turbodiesel.

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has been gone for a while, but it looks as if it's going to make one helluva return. Depending on the source, it could make 810 or 800 horsepower. Even though the numbers aren't set in stone right now, we like the direction they're going. Let's hope the estimates aren't wildly off.

I still don't get having that much power in a street car. It'll only be good for roasting tires and flexing your... "unit".
I can't wait until someone kills someone else in one of these because they're an idiot with too much money and not enough brain.

From my own personal experience with my 2014 gt500 it's already a hellcat slayer. I've slayed high end Ferraris, GT3 Porsche, turbo vettes, and yes a hellcat...I've never been beat on the street in a heads up race. The gt500, when it finally makes a comeback, should have no problem hurting feelings of much more expensive cars.
Twin turbo....maybe it's a 3.5 ecoboost

Indeed, lots of assumptions being made with this prototype. I'm sure there's a GT500 coming, but this could just as easily be a refreshed GT350......although, if you listen to the video with headphones on, that could be a cross plane crank engine.......and I can't hear forced induction of any kind.......so could this be the rumoured Mach 1?
Could be anything, really

Things I'd bet on - it's a refreshed GT350; it might be a Mach 1 mule (which I've heard IS coming from sources); if Ford ever does a GT500 again, it'll be a fully forged 5.0 with Voodoo heads and a TVS supercharger, not twin turbo.

So much talk about what if's ... really...
Seems everyone and their dog has a theory or shred of info on what's next.
I've even seen people on other sites post names of engines they are predicting coming, where the sequel to the Voodoo is the Hummingbird.
For those playing the home game... Voodoo was the engine, Hummingbird was said to be the car itself back when it was revealed in Detroit.
Sooooo... Ford named the next engine after the previous cars code name? Rrrrright.

I'd say most people are grasping at straws here.
May take a while for us to see whose right when the dust settles.
Can't wait, and I guess it's fun to speculate.

Oh it sure is
I was lucky enough to meet Dave Pericak at last year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. He was there specifically to talk about the GT and Le Mans..... but he was kind enough to give us an autograph and arranged for our photos to be taken wit him and the car. We only had a few minutes to chat, but I asked him if a Mach 1 was next. He just smiled as gave me the Corporate "we don't discuss future product" line......but did say they'd be bringing one great Mustang out after another.
So, if Mr P doesn't deliver:
1 - an '18MY 5.2 CPC N/A 485 hp Mach 1
2 - an '18MY revised 550 hp GT350
3 - a '19MY 5.2 CPC Supercharged or TT GT500
I'm gonna be very disappointed

IMO will see a Mach 1.. The Bullitt has already been brought back twice.. First in 2001 and again in 2008-09..
The last Mach 1 was in 2003-04 and is since long overdue for a return..

Probably won't see something from Ford for a while.
If it's an 18MY we'll see something this auto show season whether its at the auto shows or it's own unveiling (like the MY15 was) or likewise in MY19.
I would love to see a new SE like a Mach1 but I'm not sure we'll see one anytime soon.
Usually those are reserved for near the end of a cycle. (Mach1/BOSS)
The S550 is doing so well right now and we have a lot of variety to choose from. Also if true that MY18 is mid cycle change with some small visual changes (like the 17 fusion) and some performance updates it could be a nice update and continue the sales numbers going into the next sheet metal redesign.
It would be cool if/or when a 500 comes out to see something fill that gap between the GT->Perf vehicle. Maybe we'll see a trickle of GT350 like parts make their way into the GT as a TRACK pack...not a performance pack.
