2016 GT Premium Convt 0-60 timer/times
Hello all, new to forum and just purchased a brand new 2016 GT Premium convertible with auto. My question pertains to the 0-60 timer that's built into the track apps. So I have made a few 0-60 runs and they all seem to be about 5.1 - 5.3 seconds! First, is this timer an accurate way of determining the times or more of a control to test diff mods should that be what one wants to do? Secondly, C&D Motor Trend etc all tested this in auto with a convt and it was pulling 0-60 runs anywhere be 4.3 to 4.7 secs. Am I missing something here? Shouldn't it be around these numbers? Thats nearly .5 secs off those times. I understand the diff variables that may affect the times but not a .5 sec. Thanks in advance for any input and help.

Does the engine develop full power prior to the first 1000 miles? I heard that the computer didn't allow full potential until the 1K mark. I might be wrong though/ It happens...just ask my wife

have your wife contact me then. I'd be curious to hear more. On another another note, why would all these outlets get these cars and claim times without full disclosure on where their miles are? 🚗🚗🚗

Have you been drag racing long? Did you experience any wheelspin? What kind of surface were you on? What was the temperature? Lots of things could keep you from replicating some other car's performance. I wouldn't sweat it, as the first response mentioned the car will get stronger as it breaks in.
As for what magazine writers do, they sell stuff. That's their job, to make the stuff sold by the biggest advertiser look good.

Hey Roadk9 thanks for the reply. You know the surface didn't matter I tried a few times on many diff types of surface and the times seemed to be the same no matter what. 5.1- 5.3 etc. I get what your saying though. Can you comment on what the other guy was saying as far as engine break in and the "1000 mile mark" and computers regulating engine performance? Anyone? I'd be curious to know if that is something ford does to protect so to speak, during the engine break in ring seating process etc. As to someone's question regarding track experience, I own a 14 C63 AMG S with a Renntech tune, over 700bhp and 725ftlb tq and Porsche 911 TT. I'm no expert, but I know how to get a car to hook up and drive them. My question was about why people are getting these numbers and how and if ford is doing this to the vehicles maybe they should let customers know that. Thanks again for your comments in advance.

to clarify, traction control is off, in sport + and not using paddle shifters. Just letting it do what it's supposed to do. (We never ask a question we don't know the answer to right) lol.

If you are questioning the accuracy of the track apps you can down load an app to your smart phone that works the same way.
The biggest influence to the results you get verse some one else in a different local is how level is the road and how much head/tail wind is there. Best bet is to always make several runs in both directions and take the average.
