I got pricing today from Frankie over at Shelby America.
It's not as bad as I thought it would be. For an "almost" fully loaded/optioned 2015 Super Snake, it's about 78k. Yes, it's a ton of money, but I thought it would be way more than that. (Just think the '15 Z06 w/Z07 package is WAY higher than that. Believe me, I know. lol
)
I like the car, but with only 300 being built and being a "rarity", that would be a car I park in the garage and almost never, ever drive. (Worse so than the Roush I have now, if you can believe it. lol

If I had your RS3 ? maybe I'd consider trading her in for the Challenger/Hellcat, but in the end I don't think I could go through with it as I'd end up having second thoughts/regrets at the last minute

Actually,.....my "plan" is to keep the Roush, since it's almost paid off and "hopefully" purchase a 2016 Hellcat as well. I love the Roush. There are no cars that look or sound like that around here at all. I don't want to let it go. We are going to be super busy at work, (we're already steady busy), so with overtime, "it could be" very do-able. We'll see. Can't predict the future, but that is what I'm aiming for now. (If I could have gotten the 2015 Saleen Black Label car,......I would have to trade in the Roush because that's crazy expensive. lol But, it doesn't look like that's going to happen anyways.
)
A real shame you can't get anyone to work with you on the Saleen Black Label
If I were in your position, I'd be keeping a very close eye on the "new GT500" threads. It's a big IF, but if that thing comes with a 5.0/5.2 twin turbo V8 motor, I can easily see it eclipsing the Hellcat. And it'd give you a couple of years to save that overtime money, as it's likely to be an '18MY car. As with all future product though, Ford won't admit anything, so we'll need to keep our ears to the ground for rumours and spyshots.

I actually blasted one of the salesmen today in an email about the Black Label Saleen. It's been bugging me for a while. I think he was waiting for me to call him personally. He's not going to like the email he gets today. He may be reading it right now. LOL

Funny you say that Rocky. I would love a Hellcat! Those cars are just stupid fast. Just nasty. And now that people are started to mess with tuning and stuff,...it's getting good. Pushing close to 800HP and 700TQ isn't that far off.

)Now on the other hand, if I could afford to add the Hellcat to my stable ? Then heck yeah, I'd buy one in a heartbeat

It's a shame too, because I would have one in my garage. Love that car.

And what really sucks more than anything else is.. I really love that car too
Okay,......maybe someone here can help me understand this because I am having a hard time grasping it.
The new Shelby SS has close to 800 HP and has gobs of torque.
The new Dodge Hellcat has more than 700 HP and has gobs of torque.
The SS has more power and torque than the Hellcat and costs WAAAAYYYYY more. The Hellcat obviously weighs more too.
Now why is it that the Hellcat will wax the SS in a quarter mile?
(I'm talking M6 to M6 here.) Is it gearing? Can someone make some sense of this for me?

The reason I am asking is I saw that someone had posted a simlar question as well on the other Mustang forum.
In the article;
This is where things get murky, as they often do with tuner cars that lack SAE-certified horsepower and torque ratings. Despite the "750+ HP" billing, Shelby told us that our particular test car produces 850 hp at the crank. But the car's 12.3-second, 116-mph quarter-mile run speaks to a horsepower number far less than 750, let alone 850. Confused? So were we. Consider the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, with its SAE-certified 707 hp and a curb weight 627 pounds above the Shelby's. The last Hellcat we tested did a 12.0-second quarter-mile at 124.8 mph-enough to make any old drag racer doubt the Super Snake has anywhere close to the Dodge's beans. With a superior power-to-weight ratio, the Super Snake should be traveling faster than the Hellcat in the quarter. The culprit here may be excessive heat soak, a tune on the safe side, or electronics otherwise struggling with the newfound horsepower.
But, you would think with all that cash you are dishing out, that the cooling issue would be a "non factor". The Z06 also has heat soak issues affecting it on the road course.
The new Shelby is a GORGEOUS looking car though.
Unlike previous dragstrip tests, where we benefited from drag radials and a prepped track, we ran this Super Snake as-is during the short period the strip was open for the road racers attending the event. Unfortunately, we battled a 15-mph headwind, marginal track, and the engine was bumping the rev limiter about 200 feet before the traps. Even so, with 1.90 60-foot times, we mustered an 11.93 at 120 mph. We were able to walk the Snake out of the hole, but speed-shifting Second gear resulted in massive tire spin. Each time it would blaze, causing us to pedal the throttle to regain traction. It’s not what we hoped for, but we still ran 11s. We can say with confidence that the Super Snake would be capable of mid-11s with only a prepped track and no headwind. Drag radials would get it in the low 11s. And realistically, 3.55s would keep it off the limiter. A proper drag test might be in order at a later date.
