2015 premium GT with shaker

I've been a ford customer all my life. I have had 3 mustangs and the best one is my 1970 Mach1 Cleveland. But this GT I love but I got the shaker pkg and I am real unhappy for 1795 option. Its a disappointment and let down. Shame on Ford. They took advantage on this one. NOW: someone tell me theres a switc I am suppose to turn on the get amp and siubwoofer/?? If not I got screwed. BUt still love my GT but will not recommend the shaker to anyone.

I remember when they put the Shaker in the 2005 Mustang. I decided to save the money and buy my own Infinity speakers.

I will say that the 8-speaker SYNC stereo in my 2009 Fusion is pretty nice. Not great, but nice.

So I'm not the only one who thinks ALL my stereo sound is coming from the front of the cabin. Ya, it would be nice if I could HEAR the rear speakers and the sub that is back there too, my son says he hears it good when he rides in the back (but I plan to NEVER try and squeeze my 6'4" body in the back seats).
My plan is to eventually take my rig to a stereo shop and have the back end amped, so the sound from the back will mix w/ the sound from the front.

I have the Shaker system in my 2014 GT Premium and I personally think it sounds great - in fact the subs bump so much that it rattles the door cargo inlets outer plastic (for lack of a better term). It's an easy fix though, just need to fill those inlets with a thick foam insert, as I don't store anything in there anyways.

On the S197 mustangs there is an audio processor that will allow you to put the system to the front back or all. Try playing with the settings it make a big difference. Not sure if it is all the systems. On the Shaker pro systems they have a double sub in the trunk which sound good for a factory set up.

You can change all the settings on the Shaker Pro system, through the multi function screen. I have my system set to "surround sound" . If you are listening to SIRIUS, the quality is ...not very good. I burned my CD's to a memory stick, and the sound quality is exceptional.

Remember the old saying, "GIGO" - Garbage in, Garbage out.

If it were only the subwoofer, I'd be pretty disappointed. It does have BLIS with cross-traffic, HD Radio (which sounds really good), and the memory drivers seat and side mirrors. The BLIS was worth the money.

Now, as far as the sub ... I have opened my trunk with it pumped up and it definitely is doing a job (just not THE job). It sounds fine (except on Sirius), but overall I think the sub in the trunk plus the placement of it negates any benefit.

I like a more balanced sound, but feeling the bass when appropriate would have been appreciated and expected from an upgrade.

The sound systems that are installed today are a lot better than they used to be. An it is not going to beat the system I had in the early 2000's (Sony ES pre-amp/tuner/CD, Sony ES CD Changer, ADS power amp, and ADS bi-amp speakers). That cost around $5000. And if I was still in my 20's and 30's, I would swap out the amp and speakers. But now that I am in my 50's and dealing with hearing loss thanks to load music in my 20's and 30's, I can live with what is in there now.

Have you gone into the audio set up and changed the fader settings? There is a similar thread going where the disappointment was high until someone figured out to redirect the fader more biased to the rear than should be necessary. Apparently the F--|--R configuration is not real good. Give it a try and see if you get the same results.

I actually did as well, even after (and more so) after reading the first sentence.

If they had a 2015 with a shaker on it I would sell everything I had and go buy one right now!

It's funny, I have the regular Shaker that comes with the 400A package and all the sound seems to be coming from the back with nothing up front. I have my fade adjusted forward to try and compensate.

StangNut, there are two amps in the side kickpanel on the drivers side (at least on the 05-14 model that is, maybe different for yours). Make sure that they are both working. Maybe you arent getting enough power to the front or too much to the rear.

If you listen to any high end car audio system most if not all the sound should be coming from the front. Actually it should sound like an orchestra or singer is right on top of your dashboard. I designed high end car audio systems for years and I just did a high end system in my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder. Rear speakers are just for rear fill and frankly most high quality custom car audio systems don't even use rear speakers as they just color the sound of your top quality front speakers. I have not yet messed with my system in my 2013 GT yet mine has the basic Shaker system and its not so good. I have not decided yet to go crazy and drop a few thousand on a system for it or just let it be.

I would say the Shaker sound system is terrible. If you have the volume set on say 5, the volume from the front speakers is good. As you move the fade setting toward the rear speakers, the volume on the rear speakers is significantly lower than it is on the front speakers. The sound system in my 2014 F150 is way better than in my 2015 Mustang.

A electronics store in louisville does electronics and custom sound systems.
they could have installed a system that would shake the car for 100'S less with boom box. Hi quality sound. Shame on ford !

Mustang is an exception.

One of the best systems Ford ever did was the 1994-2004 Mach460 system for the Mustang. They even upgraded this later with an optional Mach1000 system that added a subwoofer.

My 2011 Premium w/ "Shaker" is a downgrade from the Mach460 I had in 1994, 1998 & 2004 Mustangs and the 2015 Premium EB rental I had for a week w/ "Shaker" sure seemed like a downgrade from my 2011.

I've never had a Mustang with the Mach1000 or Shaker Pro so I can't offer any comments there, but I've read all sorts of disappointment including this thread.

So NO, not all systems have gotten better, Ford's sound systems for the Mustang has actually gotten WORSE since it's peak in 2004 !!
