This commissioned Lincoln concept design is probably our best guess at what the overall shape of the new Mustang will be...

From Mustang6g
Remember these two? Of course you do

Well, the artist has signed up to Mustang6g and has informed us that there'll be an even more polished version (a red GT500 version) for a forthcoming MM&FF edition.
I have, of course, pointed him in the direction of this thread, so hopefully we'll get some first hand input

I think it gives a glimpse of the wheelbase but the side profile does not have the fastback shape that many expect. It does, however, present an interesting view of what could possible happen with shorter front and rear overhangs.
Unless I'm reading the article wrong, that concept is not an official Lincoln product..............so I guess it tells us nothing.
"but since independent designers have no restrictions whatsoever about the cars they dream up, Michael Chestnut from Los Angeles, California, is proposing a luxury sports coupe for the troubled brand. The industrial designer's concept study features a slightly different interpretation of the new MKZ's upside-down moustache grille with the rear of the car brining to mind creations from Bentley.
Chestnut did not provide any specific details about the concept"

Ok just back from our clubs monthly meeting and our guest today was John Clor, he said the Mustang will be "late" according to him, the original design tream, a good portion of them have been "bumped" from the project. The current model is still only clay but its definitely Mustang. He was asked about power plants and the turbo technology, he said its a "Turbo Mustang Would Be very Cool"

How late is "late"?
All I know is what he said, Ford was not happy with what was being presented. The push is to have a concept by April 17th, its job 1 right now.
If that is true, I'd say we will not see a new Mustang for another year. This is a big deadline to miss for a production model. Also, it would be a big miss in the design process. Something must have gone really, really wrong (as in, some people outside of Ford saw it and told them they didn't like it, violently).
