A rear shock tower brace or even something built into the rear seatbacks could add rigidity as well.

excuse the roughness, but for illustrating the mechanism's sake..
Good idea - I believe the engineering work for the CONVERTIBLE also plays against the notion of a hatchback in terms of the rigidity.

Comments?

I agree it probably makes the convertible's job a bit harder. However I don't think thats unfeasible either. A shorter trunklid and bulkhead/stop storage/allthemagicthatmakesconvertibleswork would take away most of the practicality of the car, but thats true of all verts to some extent. I think its well within Ford's ability to engineer that.

that... or a notchback'd folding metal roof...

edit: something like this

This has been one of my favorites since the original render was seen. The only thing is that it just looks too close to todays mustang. Not enough if a departure to the future.

sadly i feel as if this would only look good from that angle but oh well!! here ya go! lol... i know i know, theres still some S197 in there lol. it might not look like it but i did try to shorten the width of the grill to attempted to take out some of the S197ness and add a bit of SN95ness to it. also i darkened it a little bit.

....but in the end it is just an evolution of the current platform, we most likely will see something totally different.

But i like where you're going with this. Nice work .
