Is the 2015 Mustang too European??

Very good article that you wrote! Thank you for sharing! As far as being too European, I am not sure. I just wish it was a bit more retro-styled. Have to see one up close before I can personally give a honest review, however I am never a big fan of change unless it reflects the styling of the older cars, as in 65 thru 70.
Thanks again!
Phil

I have not seen the 2015 Mustang in person, but I think I will like it. I would rather have the 2012 Mustang front end on the 2015 Mustang than the slanted headlight look. Most cars do not look good in pictures. I do not think of the 2015 Mustang as looking European, I just think it looks different. I like the pictures of the new Mustang interior.

Well many have said it looks too much like an Aston Martin Vanquish or a Jaguar, I say "and" what's wrong with looking like awesome cars?? But I guess its like the folks who are saying this about the new Corvette Stingray......."if we wanted a Ferrari, we would have bought one"

My first thought was oh no, a Mustang Fusion. But the more I ponder the design I have mellowed from that thought. I'm trying to not make a definite decision until I see one up close, and personal as Phil has said.

I think American cars could use a little more European in them...not necessarily in terms of styling, but certainly in terms of available options, build quality and interior quality.
My primary beef with almost every car I've ever owned (which have all been American, model years spanning 3 decades) is the interior. It usually just feels like cheap crap. My Focus was an improvement but still had some faults. My Mustang isn't too bad either, but it could certainly be a lot better. American car interiors always feel like cheap plastic children's playsets.

Yeah,....the 2015 doesn't look muscular at all. The front end, the rear end, and the side profile. No thanks. ESPECIALLY that rear end.
You look at the 2013/2014 Mustangs, and they have that muscular profile from the side, the front and the rear.

http://carsandcoffeetalk.blogspot.co...-european.html Please enjoy my latest article......Joe
Ford slapped on the standard commercial front facia to this pony that Ford shares with numerous other models. The lack of originality and design imagination is very disappointing but none the less, Ford should be highly successful with it. I personally would never sell my 2011 model for this 2015 model but that's just me. There is nothing this new design has to offer me that I feel the need of MUST HAVE, NEED THIS. Perhaps the upcoming years will bring some really nice design tweaks and with the aftermarket world, I'm sure the exterior mods will be plentiful. I am really glad to see Ford bring back the bright yellow and orange colors because I think they look fantastic and with some black wheels and black stripping, it should really look nice. Again Joe, thanks for your article and I really enjoyed your perspective and writing skill.

I just saw the 50th Anniversary Mustang in white along with 2 GT models at the NY auto
show. The design does have a European flare for obvious reasons but it is a stunning
departure for Ford. It looks more sport/luxury than my aggressive looking 2014 GT. I
think that Ford has hit one out of the ballpark with more models on the way.

My thoughts as well. I keep telling myself I'll like it more when I see it in person, but that's just me being a Mustang enthusiast and wanting to love the car.

Over the last 50 years, there have been MANY generations of Mustangs - some that in my opinion are FAR less Mustang than the 2015 Design.
Mustang II -
Fox Body -
New Edge -
None of these looked ANYTHING like the "Mustang", and still have a huge and loyal following (well, with the exception of the Mustang II).
Cars MUST evolve. Car Manufacturers MUST evolve. If they don't appeal to the masses (now more globally than ever before), you may as well shut the doors immediately. Purists will always ***** and moan anytime there is a change, but as a "for profit" business - I would **** off 10,000 purists to add 100,000,000 new customers any day of the week.

Although I will reserve complete judgement until I see one in person (which will also determine if I want to BUY one), I disagree with the statement that it is "not a Mustang". Ford determines what is and isn't a Mustang, and will pay the price for their design decision.

I get the whole corporate styling thing and brand recognition and blah blah blah...but if any Ford vehicles were to be unique and different among the rest I think it should've been the stang.
Either way, it's not too bad looking and I'm sure it'll sell. Once the aftermarket gets rolling I bet we'll see some pretty badass looking S550's around.

Good article. I was able to see (what looked like Sonic Blue) one at the local car show a couple of weeks ago, and I really like it now. When you get to see it up close and are able to view it from all angles, you can certainly appreciate the design more.

I totally agree Ford can call whatever vehicle they want a Mustang, but that doesn't mean it looks like a Mustang. ..sometimes it looks more like a Pinto, an Escort, or, in this case, a Fusion.
I'm sure being a Mustang fan I will learn to like it more, but right not it's a huge disappointment.

I saw the 2015 at Charlotte a couple weeks ago, it's "OK" I guess, looks way better than a late Camaro .... or even Challenger (looks better than the Camaro too) ..... but it didn't do anything for me. It went around on a turn table and I stood there long enough to see rear, one side, front, and then I walked over and looked at the older Mustangs on display.
I don't know what it lacks, but it just doesn't "do it" for me.
Maybe it'll grow on me?
