They won't bring back the SVO because Ford SVO no longer exists. There is now a real division of Engineers @ Ford named SVT.
Bringing back SVO would be as appropriate as bringing back the "Stallion" version of the Pinto.

I'd like to see a Mach as well, but the first one of you guys to suggest an ecoboost V6 Mach is gonna get smacked right through the frigg'n monitor!
Caveat being a 700hp ecoboost V6 Mach with 1000 ft/lbs at 1000 rpm.
I gave this some thought a few days ago
Ecoboost I4 base car with the same power to weight as the current V6 car with better economy.
V6 Ecoboost GT as the base performance car with the same power to weight at the current V8 GT
V8 car essentially as a package - You check off the box and you get more or less the equivalent of the current Boss 302 with a bit more power (say 450), Brembos and a torsen as standard equipment - I don't know how you could denote such a car as GT-R would be kinda silly, LS has some heritage with the Boss LS but that seems like it would create some confusion so maybe it could just be GT 5.0?
V8 Halo car - I'd say a 5.8 version of the 5.0 topped with a nice blower but given that the nextstang will probably shrink enough to preclude the use of a tall-deck coyote, I suppose it will just be a run of the mill 5.0 with premium components like forged rods/pistons and ported heads.

Special Vehicle Operations sounds way more badass than Special Vehicle Team.
Given the high probability that there won't be much retro in the '15, the "heritage" names such as Mach1, Boss et al probably don't make much sense (although they could get away with it).
I'm still trying to get my head around what engines will be available as rumours are thin with regards any V6 model. Could we be looking at:
EcoBoost 2.3 4-cylinder (300-350bhp)
GT V8 (440bhp?)
SVT (will the current Shelby unit survive or are Ford planning something else?)
Personally, I'd still like to see the V6 in the lineup (although I still have a problem with how the current 3.7 sounds.......too raspy, even with an aftermarket exhaust).
Me, it'd have to be one of the V8s

Don't get me wrong.........if the '15 still has enough of the heritage in its design, then I'd love to still see those classic names.
I guess the SN95 proved those can still work on a relatively "modern" Mustang, what with the Mach1 and Bullitt, so who knows.
I certainly don't want the SE/Titanium trim levels, that for sure
Honestly I don't see this as a reason. Yes, I know what SVO stood for as an acronym, but SHO was an acronym too, and now it's just a trim level known as "SHOw" which, in my opinion, is how SVO is viewed as well. Most people don't think Special Vehicle Operations when they hear SVO - they think "turbo 4 cylinder Mustang with acceleration of a GT but better handling because less weight."
The Mustang SVO was so-called because of the performance group that built it, which no longer exists. Unless Ford wanted to make a "commemorative" model or something, it doesn't make much sense to me to call a modern Mustang a SVO when we have SVT around...
I'm of the mindset that I would like to see new special editions. I'm sure they will keep/revive some nameplates, but I would like to see at least 1 new one.
Let's create some NEW history! Provided they let me come up with the name because that name they had for the pony package was atrocious lol

-that whole marketing idea just reinforces the notion in me that the public should never be involved.Hell if even half the ideas over in the some improvements you'd like to see thread were implemented this is what we'd get in the car

I'd like to see a model just one notch above the GT. Give it a highly tuned EcoBoost V6, electronically adjustable shocks/struts, and whatever performance options are available on the GT as standard equipment. Give it a brand new name. If you use a name that's previously been used on a V8 Mustang (Boss/Mach 1/whatever) purists are going to have strokes that Ford is desecrating a beloved name by associating it with a lowly 6-cylinder.

In that vain, they might call the new base model the "Ussvohhh." :crap:

Wow... excellent points, everybody.
But if the SVO is brought back, I fear it might render the GT obsolete or force Ford to push the performance higher and the price along with it. Think about it... amazing MPG, amazing performance, amazing handling, cheap price. For the younger crowd, it will be much more appealing. That's what I'm afraid of, anyways.

Shame really because SVT as a brand sucks. Not really up there with M Group, AMG, TRD or MazdaSpeed. SHO and SVO are both better brands. That's why Shelby works so well for Ford. Maybe apply the BOSS label to all performance variants. Without the retro graphics, of course
SVT has lived in the shadow of the Shelby name for too long. Now, I love the Shelbys, but SVT does all the development work, so it should be completely badged as such.
Given time and space, SVT could become a brand as strong as M Group, AMG etc.
Boss should only ever (in my opinion) be applied to a track focused, 302 cubic inch car. They hit a bullseye with the '12 and '13.

The base car will more than likely be the volume of the Mustangs sales, like it has for how long.
If they do slap the turbo4 in there, it won't be competing with the GT and its over 400hp
