And torque is what is nice about street driving...stop light-to-stop light.
There are 2 more factors you have not mentioned.
Air/Fuel ratio, and Timing.
No matter what you do to the heads/intake/cams/valves, these 2 things can, and do greatly impact horsepower.
These 2 things are the biggest changes when you add a Bama tune(or other), to a stock engine.
This is where I believe Ford has stuff still on the table, to tweak the numbers.

 

Valid point. They still have the tune to mess with. And it is proven that tuners out there, AED, Bama, etc. can get a lot more power out of the motor. However, these aren't factory reliable tunes. The most aggressive Ford would be willing to get would be the equivalent to a procal tune. And that requires 91+, realistically 93 to avoid pinging. So even that is borderline too aggressive. And it only gains a claimed 16 hp, dynos show closer to 12.

So where it's true that they could max out the tune and get gobs of power. They won't. That type of tune wouldn't be reliable. At best they could squeeze 5-10 more hp reliably. And that would still put it less than the boss.

 

Good point...I'm still getting a new one now, and maybe when the offspring come along, I will trade up!!!
