100$ question - what is this part and what does it do?





I've seen this part a few times and I'm not a mechanic. Looks like two tiny cold air intake filters. Whats it called? What does it do? Does it have anything to do with EGR? Is it only for supercharged engine?

Kind of hard to see from the picture but they look like breathers. They allow gases to vent without rerouting it back into the engine through a pcv valve.
