This.

People said when ford was doing the 2013 GT500 testing at the ring, they slapped those stickers on. It's supposed to be pretty common amongst 'ring goers

As has been pointed out before, just because it sports the sticker doesn't mean it'll be referred to once it reaches production. That is likely the same car photographed at the 'Ring a few weeks back.

In Europe, you'll find those stickers on the most unlikely of cars. Kind of a badge of honour

However, the Ferrari 365 GTB was never officially called Daytona, but if enough of you keep calling this the GT500 Nuburgring, it might just stick

Those stickers are from Hotel Tiergarten in Nurburg, Germany. (with pictures of Black and Blue in the US) This means that it is possible that both Nurburgring test cars have been shipped back to the US to run on some of the US tracks. Thank you so much for posting this, it saves us a lot of time and money going to the track when we now know that black and blue is back home.

I was hoping to catch the cars in last minute testing before they went back home... This means that Ford is more than happy with the performance of the car and some more violent testing is going to be performed at tracks such as VIR, Laguna, Road America ect...ect. Now that the racing season is coming to a close, it will be easier to access these courses.

Again, thank you for posting this...

It was mentioned in another thread that the engineers at SVT were poking fun at the LS by adding the stickers on the back. Nothing more.

My assumption would be the mules spotted in Germany were likely running any suspension/brake upgrades as those are not obvious to the spys amoungst us. I 'spose they'd run the powertrain changes too, assuming the styling changes (not seen at the Ring) wouldn't impose issues with cooling etc.

The cars spotted recently in the US will have all of this plus the bodystyling changes (covered up). I've often thought the cladding must be a real pain as how can the engineers prove 100% that the bodystyling changes haven't impacted cooling/airflow when you've got the equivilent huge sleeping bag keeping everything toasty on the car!

I suppose the answer to that will be the "cow-camo" mules which, hopefully, we'll start to see in the next few weeks!

And is it me, or in the image below, does the arch of the top of the grille appear to spear further to the corner of the car, almost disectiing the headlamps. It could just be a trick of the camo as its most notable on the drivers side, less so on the passenger side. It's probably nothing......

(oh, and probably worth a Mod moving this to the Rumor section with the others?)

I should clarify, the "Save the Ring" sticker is from Hotel Tiergerten in Nurburg. "Save the Ring" is a non-profit organization and the info on their Facebook page gives instructions on how to obtain the sticker via Hotel Tiergarten.

http://www.facebook.com/SaveTheRing?sk=app_6009294086#!/SaveTheRing?sk=info

You can see that the plate numbers are the same so this is obviously the same car, there are no Nurburgring or Save the Ring stickers on the car in the June pictures.

Edit: Some of the old photos looked as if the tread pattern could have been a Pirelli Corsa, I definitely seen 3 parallel tread lines on the tire, definitely not a PZero Nero and not a Goodyear. It does resemble a regular PZero and there is one 19 inch that comes in a 160 treadwear. Anyone else think that these are 19s all around?

James May has valid points about the 'Ring ruining the ride of ultra expensive "GT" cars for the sake of bragging rights. Car companies are definitely obsessed with 'Ring times at the expense of the customer's buttocks.

But I would love to see the GT500's 'Ring time compared to the Camaro ZL1, or any other performance machine. It is good to know, even if 85% of owners never see the limits of their car's performance.

KQQL!

A vid should be coming. It will be interesting if it comes close to the Viper and ZR1 times.

Like I said in another thread, it is nice to see Ford testing Mustangs at the Nurburgring now. Any word on a possible Boss 302 ring time? I know there are a few of us (myself among them) interested in seeing what the Boss might do on the Nordschleife.

We'll probably see the GT500 'Ring time when the car is unveiled. That's a big deal nowadays.

the fact is....the S197 mustang is superior at the track to just about anything. the 2013 GT500 will crush the ZL1. the AMOUNT of air it displaces, and its heft will cancel any fancy suspension the ZL1 has.

I am all for the Nurburgring Edition of the GT500. I hope it has some unique wheels and tires to give it a real road racer look. It would be good to hear lap times at the N-ring under 7:40.
