Yet another noise - 2011 v6 (Audio Link)

Hey guys,

I've already had the fix done for the clicking sound on this V6, but now I'm getting another noise at 750RPM, right between idle and go. It is none too pleasant either. Only happens after a cold startup and takes a good 10 minutes of running to go away. Anyone hear this sound before? Or have an idea of what it could be?

Took a video of it at night, hence the "audio link"

I've got pretty good speakers on my p.c., i don't hear anything that i would call 'bad' or 'not normal'.

Hi Stick,

My name is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. Have you been able to get your vehicle diagnosed at your Ford dealer? If not, I recommend you make an appointment with them and also message me with your dealer, VIN, mileage, and contact info so I can escalate this for you.

Deysha

I still don't hear anything. The alternator is on that side and the fuel injectors make clicking sounds, which is normal. Let us know what the dealer says...

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have am trying to schedule a dealer visit right now.

The previous video was a recording of the car in the 750RPM range. I took another video of it ranging from about 500 to 1000. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApLTxCvRNP0 . It starts to sound like a small RC remote control car at some points.

Only reason I know this sound doesn't sound normal is that it doesn't happen every time. Just random times.

Thanks for the attention Deysha.

I'll keep everyone updated.

Thanks, Matt

Dropped off the car early this morning. They have found nothing wrong.

Yesterday another problem reared its head. The wrench light came on Saturday. Then once the car was turned off and turned on again, disappeared. I thought nothing of it. Yesterday when getting onto the freeway, the wrench light came on again and when I mashed the pedal, the car rev'd to 2500RPM and would not go higher. I backed off the pedal, slowly gave it gas till I was into the floor. Nothing passed 2500RPM. It felt like the car was stuck in a high gear. I was able to get it up to freeway speeds without getting myself killed to merge. Thankfully the on-ramp was long.

At the end of the drive I had to work my way through city streets. My car was idling around 1250-1500 RPM, about 500-750 higher than when I am stopped. I could pick my foot off the gas and coast at 20MPH for a good half mile.

This has been added to the list among the other problems like lunging and clunky downshifts and the noise from above. I filled out the poor service techs report sheet and then some. But for 6,000 miles it is becoming increasingly irritating. The car has been in the shop 3 times since I bought it.

Will have more details after tomorrow.

Matt
