Weird situation today... Thoughts?

I was watching the Florida Tennesee game and the local sports bar. When some gentlemen came in and asked me if I had a Mustang. I said yes, sir... Why? He went on to explain to me that he was right next to me and noticed a pool of something under my car. Weird, it's a 14 with 18k miles and nothing but ontime services. I also don't race the car, nor drive it hard.

We walk out to the car, and it was an oily type substance. The pool was under my car and leaking to the next parking spot. But we couldn't see it physically leaking from my car. We checked the oil coolant, and brake fluid and it looked fine, so I started it up.

Still no leaks, but I backed up the car only to see a trail leading to the pool. Don't know if it was from my car... But looked fairly fresh. But still couldn't find it. I led to the conclusion it was my car... I'm pretty attentive to detail so I think I would've noticed parking over a pool of substance in a parking spot.

I took it to the dealer right before they closed. Put it up on a lift and said it was bone dry and they didn't see anything. All fluids were checked and were good. Weird right? Bone dry? I am not throwing and codes, my oil pressure and temps were good on the drive home, so were my coolest temps.

I've parked it for the night to see if there is a leaK. I'm nervous because I hope it all didn't leak out within the 2 hours I was at the sports bar. What could it be? It was definitely an oily substance and a pretty big pool of it covering a good 5 sq ft. It seemed to cover mostly under the mid to front of my car and spread to the right.

I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me or what. But my clutch seemed to be slightly harder to press. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it.

Any thoughts on what it could be? I'm about 75% sure it came from my car.

Thanks everyone!

All signs seem to point to you not noticing that you parked over some oily goop :P If it was oily I can't imagine your car would be bone dry not long after, it wouldn't just completely drip off on it's own (unless maybe roads were really wet and it effectively washed it off?)

I'm not sure. I'm slightly colorblind. But I remember asking if he thought it was transmission fluid and he said no cuz it's not red.

I'll check tomorrow and report back
