Definitely update when you talk to the dealer! I'd be interested to hear how they handle it. I'd definitely be fighting for a brand new set of four tires if it were my car. Last thing Ford wants is another tire scandal haha.

I have the factory Pirelli PZERO 18" pony package wheels/tires
12,500 on the Tires....driving down the road going 60 and hear loud thudding.....I pull over go go to the back of my car to find that the center tread has just peeled off.
The tires are at about 80%, and the center has just peeled off showing threads of string. No metal is showing, and the outside is still fully intact.
Is there any kind of warranty or coverage if the tire fails? I haven't been rough on the tires, an occasional spirited acceleration, but nothing to really break the car loose.

I believe the tires are under warranty from the manufacturer for 12,000 miles/12 months. Your situation sounds like a defective tire. I'd definitely be pursuing a replacement tire without cost to you.

Finally back home. I am going tomorrow to see what they can do. I'm hoping for at least my rear tires being replaced. (I don't want 2 unevenly worn rear tires.) If I could get all 4, that'd be awesome. I just hope that they don't try and get out of it.

Someone on here a while back (can't remember who it was) had a Pirelli come apart on a Boss (IIRC). Seems like his was the outside edge of the tread. like it just de-laminted or something. I'll try to find the thread.

Because I've worked in many tire shops in my illustrious mechanic career and Pirelli has always been problems. I've just about ran them all also and Pirelli will never again be an option. If you like them then by all means buy them but I know of many dealers that just quit carrying the brand because of bad quality.
What problems did you encounter and on what frequency? What particular models?

I have 21000 miles on my 2011, and the original Pirelli's still have the little nipples sticking out. Wear is not apparent. I did have the alignment checked when I first bought the car, as I was told, many years ago, the alignment can be thrown off by chaining the cars on a train or truck for transit...I don't know if it is still true, but I have always had the alignment checked on a new car. The alignment shop thought it was a good idea, and only charged me half for the service since everything was fine, just a little centering of the steering wheel was all that was required. And, I run 33 psi, right off the door sticker, unless I am going cruising in the hills, then I pull out the compressor and add 5 lbs.

They are saying that it won't be covered under warranty because they looked chewed up. I live in a town with many dirt roads. The tires I have are the summer only soft rubber. And my passenger tire us starting to do the same thing.
