Tires Losing Center Tread
I have the factory Pirelli PZERO 18" pony package wheels/tires
12,500 on the Tires....driving down the road going 60 and hear loud thudding.....I pull over go go to the back of my car to find that the center tread has just peeled off.
The tires are at about 80%, and the center has just peeled off showing threads of string. No metal is showing, and the outside is still fully intact.
Is there any kind of warranty or coverage if the tire fails? I haven't been rough on the tires, an occasional spirited acceleration, but nothing to really break the car loose.

I check my tire pressure regularly, never over inflated. No signs of uneven wear, and I don't burnout. Like I said, spirited acceleration, not burning out. Literally the whole center just peeled off.
My main worry is that I have a 2 hour drive home, and I don't know that it's smart to drive on these. Should I get a new tire, and ask for reimbursement? Or should I just wait, drive it back home, and take it in Monday? There aren't any weird vibrations, or any pull, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I really would be cautious running on it. Slow driving surface streets if you have to.

You guys are lucky you can run summer tires all year round ... Like Al said Toyos are good tires. I like Nittos as they seem to do very well for people that I have known. I have had some Good success with my Pirellis but then again I am looking for something that has grip in the snow as well as on dry pavement.

I believe the tires are under warranty from the manufacturer for 12,000 miles/12 months. Your situation sounds like a defective tire. I'd definitely be pursuing a replacement tire without cost to you.
I hope your dealer can assist with this. Otherwise, I recommend contacting Deysha, the wonder Ford Customer Service rep.
