You da man!!!

This makes me want to root my Nexus S and to enable Bluetooth MAP then add your 'hack'
Actually, Nexus ROMs don't have the MAP profile because AOSP doesn't have it, which is why there is so many different implementations of it in other Android phones. I've been contributing to the MAP profile for Cyanogenmod 10 and can say that works well enough in release M2 and will be even better in release M3 later this month. So you would skip rooting and just install CM10.

There are a ton of scenarios where this is useful. My wife could text me while she's in class to pick something up on the way home from work and with the message access profile in play, my (loud) music will be muted for a moment while the car reads the message to me, all without dangerous fumbling around for a phone.

Yes, that's what I was getting at. You can install CM10 M2, or M3 which I think will be out this week.

This is my one disappointment with my car. I would have thought these sync issues would have been resolved by now

I just updated my 2011 Gen 1 Nav from version 3.1 to 3.1.4 and it exhibits this problem with a Galaxy S3 running Jelly Bean.

Another month and a new year. No news, no update, and the FordIVTteam has still done nothing but ignore the thread.

Thanks, Ford!

I'm not ignoring you, denlem. I just haven't received any new information on my end.
As promised, I'll pass along details as soon as I hear something.

Jaclyn, can you try to escalate the 3.1.4 fix and try to get it pushed out as an update? That way we can just download it ourselves w/o having to go in to a dealership?

What really doesn't make sense to me about this whole thing is that the most popular phone in the world right now is the Samsung galaxy S3 (no offense to any other phone) and yet there is no sign of this phone on any carrier on the approved list from Ford. This phone was released back in May and rumors have it that the Galaxy S4 will be released this April. With as long as Ford takes to approve a phone or get an update out there no wonder people are irritated. We've even got guys on this forum telling Ford exactly how to fix this text messaging problem and still....nothing. Way to stand behind your product....not!!! Don't get me wrong I love my car but the fixing a minor glitch should not be this difficult or take this long. Okay done venting.

But you've been saying that for months and have absolutely no info. Since you're part of the "In Vehicle Team", can't you just check with whoever is in charge and ask them?

Tell us what is holding up the answer!

I wish it were that easy, denlem. I've done everything I need to do on my end, I'm just waiting to hear back.
