Solved: Clutch engagement sound

...OR "Identified: Clutch engagement sound" haha.

I am experiencing a chattering/tapping/rattling sound when engagin the clutch under load. The tech @ Ford said it was DS backlash, but I thought otherwise.

From a responding poster @ "the other forum":

"The clutch is a single disc. If you are referring to the 'backlash' sound in parking lots when you move the car forward slightly then quickly depress the clutch pedal, then that is an inherit characteristic of the type of hydraulic release system. Every Getrag-equipped Mercedes and BMW I drove made the exact same sound."

Pardon my posting this topic several times under a few different titles; the purpose was to provide easily searchable information for the next person experiencing this condition. I have peace of mind now.
