A Question of Ford Warranty Policy
A Question of Ford Warranty Policy
First of all, this question is about service/repair done by Ford dealer on vehicles with factory new car warranty expired.
I know that Ford changed its warranty policy to 2 years unlimited mileage last year. My question is if the parts fail within the 2 years period, will the replaced parts/labor get another 2-year warranty?
More specifically, this question is asked regarding the problematic front LCAs in our vehicles. So far, my front LCAs have been replaced twice under warranty. None of them can survive 2 years. Now, my 2012 V6 is out of warranty and the same squeak noise is coming back on the driver side. I believe all the front LCAs will fail some time later. Then, if I pay the high initial cost to replace the LCAs at ford dealer and these parts keep on failing within 2-year period (which is pretty much a sure thing unless Ford comes up better solution), will I get sort of "life time" LCA warranty?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

1) No. Prorated warranty, your new part gets the remainder of the warranty.
2) You will get whatever the particular part's warranty is, and only on the part. Labor is not warrantied on any part. Unless the dealer has a better warranty on that.
The current warranty statement on parts from Ford:

Most parts are a 2 year warranty.
And if you abuse it (off road, tracking, provable incorrect installation or modification, etc) then it's your part, period, no warranty on any bit of it.

That said, I'm curious as to why your front control arms are failing. In what way are they failing? My original 2006 Mustang GT front control arms lasted for 7 years before I replaced them with the GT500 spec arms. That was at about 100,000 miles.
Perhaps the next arms you need are BMR tubular ones that have the greaseable poly bushing on them.

Umm, the front control arm failure is very common problem of 2010-2014 mustangs. Ford has at least 3 TSBs regarding same problem trying to fix it. The latest one is 13-9-3. But it doesn't work.
As for my particular vehicle, the problem comes back about 1.5 years later. I believe the root of the problem is bushing grease dries up due to heat from engine. Then every time the vehicle goes over something like speed bumper, there is a squeak noise sound.
As for the warranty on labor. I used to think your way that only parts are under warranty. Somehow, when I have my wife's EDGE repaired recently, I was told that the warranty includes labor as well if all the work is done by a dealer. We will see if that's true if her vehicle fails again in 2 years.

Rather then continuing to replace the parts, why not consult a suspension shop and see if they can fit a grease fitting. I really believe all the suspension problems we seem to have on all the new cars comes from the supposed, "greased for the life of the car" suspension parts. Just thinking out loud...
By the way..love the screen name, Alfa Romeo. I bought an Alfa GT off the show room floor, in Italy, while stationed there in 1971. British Racing Green with the Tan interior. Loved that car.
