Positive Batter Terminal Broke
Positive Batter Terminal Broke
I Had bought my car last year with 20K miles on it and now it is sitting at 27K. I was looking under the hood the other day and found little white granules all over the engine bay. Upon investigating if found out that the positive lead on the battery had corrosion on it and this was flying all over the bay. So this weekend I was trying to clean this and wanted to pull the terminal out from the battery. It was heavily corroded and I removed the negative terminal which was just fine. I went to remove the positive side and while I was pulling it out it completely broke
. I went to near by auto parts store and bought a terminal and put it in as a temporary set up, I also put some anti corrosion spray it now
. Now that my old wire terminal is broken. I see the terminal is actually attached to the harness and is powering 3 different harnesses. And Just by changing the terminal will not help. I will either need to buy the whole harness or some how connect the new terminal to all the 3 different spots.
My car is still under warranty. Will ford warranty cover this?
Thanks for your input and help!!

As Glenn mentioned, definitely bring it in and get it checked out at your Ford Dealer. Your service manager is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed. You can make an appointment online here. Let me know what they say.

Hi,
Thank you for pitching in! Luckily I drove my car to work today and had some time on hand post lunch. I was very impatient and took it to the dealership to get it checked out. This was my first time experience with a dealer. And knock on wood it was really good. Assistant Service Manager at the dealership was really helpful and took the car in instantly. Also told they will be able to fix it under warranty. Unfortunately they didn't have the Battery harness in stock and the car has to stay in dealership tonight. They will be able to hand it over to me tomorrow.
Thanks,
Abhi

GM experienced this issue in the mid 2000s with their Delco batteries. Whoever manufactures them had an issue with the positive terminal breaking off which caused the internal components to short out. In 2004, my 2003 Monte Carlo got me to work just fine, but I couldn't start the car at lunch time. I had the dealer tow it in and that's when they found the battery issue. They also said that the battery was leaking and already damaged wiring and the battery tray. This was all covered under warranty. I found rust colored spots on my garage floor under the Monte Carlo and also my 2006 truck. I had multiple batteries replaced for this same issue.
