part throttle rattle

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the engine has always rattled when cold, up until it gets to stabilized temperature. i know the phasers make cold noise.

NOW it rattles at 2500-3000 rpm when fully warmed in gear part throttle. it sounded like part throttle spark knock, so i pulled 3 degrees of timing globally and it still does it.

running e85. they do not change blend for winter here in alabama according to the owner. guess i need to check the fuel with a hydrometer to be sure.

im concerned because its a new sound and its getting worse. no oil issues, no plug issues, nothing wrong till now. 45k miles. build april 2010.

gonna change back to 93 octane safe tune and see if it goes away.

Hello assasinator,

My name is Andrea with Ford Customer Service. I recommend you make an appointment with your Ford dealer and have them diagnose the rattling noise. Then, you can PM me with your VIN, mileage, contact info, and dealer so I can escalate this to the Customer Service Manager for your area if needed.

Andrea
