Odd steering shake in sports mode
Odd steering shake in sports mode
I thought it was simple misbalance of tires, but the tires are balanced. I'm having an independant shop recheck these before approaching the dealer, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue:
To replicate, put car in sport mode and bring up to speed. During turning or any time wheel is not centered, there is a vibration as if your front tires were misbalanced. Bring wheel back to center and its gone. Turn off sport mode and the vibration is gone.
I figured that in normal mode the "active nibble" hid the shake, but when in sport the feedback is more direct. I can certainly feel it most in sweeper turns at anything over 50.
I didn't think anything could be wrong (outside a misbalance) until I read that others had similar issues, although I always thought it was odd that the shake in sport mode didn't go away at speeds like a true misbalance would (dissapear from 5-45, show up for 45-60, then not again until 90, etc).
If anyone has had a working resolution, let me know. I'm due for a road trip this week, so will be next week before I visit the dealer.

Could be a bent rim. bad tire, warped disc.... The reason it is only felt in sports mode would be because the steering is more sensitive/tighter then. A very slight issue would be magnified.
