Noise in trunk
Noise in trunk
Hi,
I have a 2011 mustang gt. The rear trunk makes a rattle/vibration noise over ruff roads or when I drive on the low end of the motor. The exaust growel makes it happen. It's a panel that's vibrating.
The noise is coming from the panel that holds the speakers in, top of the trunk.
I was trying to get under the carpet under the back window but couldn't figure out how. Anyone know how?
Any1 else have this prob?

First, I hope you have taken Stangpilot007's advice and checked under the car. Cars are funny in that noise can be very hard to pinpoint, as it travels.
You may also want to try and attack the problem from inside the trunk. you should be able to lie on you back and see everything that is attached to the package shelf. This will also let you check for loose speakers bolts.
And, lastly, check your spare tire and jack to insure everything is tight. I had a jack that rubbed on the body, in the spare tire well, and drove me nuts until I found it and wrapped it in foam.

Thank you all. I forgot to mention that I can tap my finger around the speakers area and duplicate the noise. Any thoughts on that? That top panel is the rattle, I just don't know how to get to it from the top.
