My 14 GT Is On the Recall List But No Action from Ford...STILL...

Is this normal?

I was told there would be two letters in the mail....one telling me my car was on the list (got that sometime in Summer) and a second saying my dealer was ready for me to come in and have the airbag thing replaced.

No second mail, and it's end of October.

Anyone else out there? I've already confirmed that my local Ford dealer has replaced/repaired many vehicles on this list.

How does one get some action on this?

Thanks
Tom

What more do you want? Several million airbag assemblies aren't going to appear out of thin air... Ford Motor Company doesn't make air bags... There's only so much they can do, and at thus point the only option is to sit and wait. Ford isn't the only company dealing with this issue, you know...

I guess I want to have my car fixed, as others in my area have already have, right?

Well then have a discussion with your dealer regarding your position on said list. I'm sure there are a number of names on there, and it may be that many more are still above yours.

Like I said, the replacement parts will only be made so quickly, can't fix everyone's vehicle right away.

I got my airbag recall notice about 3 months ago. Still haven't heard from the dealership with respect to bringing it in. You have to figure that there's tens of millions of cars that need the same work. It might be awhile.

Same here and I agree. It will take a while to get all the parts manufactured and out to all of the dealerships to perform this recall. I've read plenty of stuff on here about things the Ford screws up, but in this case, it isn't their fault.

At the Dealer I work for we have been dealing with Takata Air Bags for somewhere around 2 years. We still have not been able to correct all the vehicles. We had to do some cars twice because they found out the original replacement inflators were bad too...

Talked with my service rep this week and he said I have to wait for the second letter before they can help me. Nothing they can do until Ford has parts ready. My dealer has no parts for the Mustang airbag swap available yet. He commented that they are still waiting for airbags for some of the Fusion bags that were recalled over a year ago.

Could be a long wait... Guess it will have to be at least next spring for me. Just have a few weeks before it takes the long winters sleep.

Quite honestly I am not worried about it, the problems have occurred on a tiny fraction of the vehicles that have had airbag inflation. Of all the wrecked Mustangs, how many people have died due to defective airbags? I can wait until they get the parts.

I'm in no hurry too. I can just imagine the dealer scratching up something
