Mustang GT 5.0 2011 - Full throttle at traffic light

Yesterday I stood at the traffic lights. Wait and wait - suddenly gives my Mustang (2011, GT 5.0 without modifications) full throttle (automatic in position "D")! After a moment of shock I put the transmission in position "N" and stop the engine. After the first restart immediately full throttle. So back off the engine. The second time with no problems.

Does anyone know the problem?
Thanks, Stefan

that sounds really strange, the new throttle bodies are all electronic and feature a fail safe, usually when there is a problem the car will give you a warning chime/message and go into "limp mode". I've seen two 3.7L V6 mustangs do this. definately bring it in to a dealership, if it did it twice there should have been a trouble code stored in memory for it.

When I had my 1985 T-Bird V8 with EFI it did that one time. It's nothing new. It was a freak thing to happen but it happened.

What mats do you have in the car? Is it possible the floor mat got pushed forward onto the throttle pedal?

I did this when I put some new mats in my car ('05, manual trans). I put the new mats over the top of the old one and managed to push it forward onto the throttle pedal. Frightened the life out of me! I immediately removed the old mats, and fixed the new mats in place using the eyelets provided.

Had the floormat thing happen to me in my '05 but the 13s finally have snap-in "anchors". I find my clutch sticks after WOT sometimes but its better now with DOT4. Havent heard of this in an s197 that I can recall so story sounds strange.

Sounds like he needs to take his foot off of the skinny pedal.....and move his head so he is not sitting on it.
