Melting rubber

Anybody ever seen this? My car is always parked outside and it gets decently hot here in SoCal. I don't use any solvents that would harm the rubber, so I'm wondering if maybe the rubber is melting because of how hot the windshield gets during the day.

How long has it been there? That kinda looks like it's just been tore up by an ice scraper.

I don't think Californians know what ice is. I really want to go there though. Anyway, it 'looks' melted.

Lol. All the more reason why I suspect an ice scraper...They have no idea how to use it. I live in Texas, and last December my neighbors were in the parking lot with pots of boiling water and spatulas...

Ice? Like what's in my iced tea? Hahaha

Really though, it's definitely melting. It stretches a bit when I touch it, and it smears onto the windshield when I touch it with a cloth while I'm wiping down the windshield down. I'm totally flabbergasted, as I've never seen something like this on a car.

An ice scraper has never seen the windshield.

Since I've never seen similar complaints, I'm going to suggest it's a manufacturing defect. Excess mold-release or some other agent in the first run of the process where they make the rubber piece, or too much sealant/glue when they put the windshield in. In any case, Mr Ford will want to know about it, although he's not likely to offer a refund, repair, or replacement.

Or maybe you live in an area where caustic condor crap is a possibility.
