Hood Cancer.......Again.
Indeed, but since mine's out of warranty, that'd be ok with me. I can use the $5 for lunch.
I just joined the forum due to an issue I am having. I have a 2011 Mustang Conv. with 50k miles. I have a ford ESP. I have bubbling & cracking paint at the front of the good above the headlamps. Looks horrible and the car is only 2 years old! Took her to the dealer and he gave me some line about it has to rust through for them to cover it. How ridiculous is that??? I just want my car to look like it should at 2 years old not like its 15 years old. That's why we buy them!!! So frustrated. Can anyone help me??

You need to go directly to the GM and have a sit down, rational chat, and explain why you'll never be back there afterwards, and why everyone you know that asks about their store doesn't get a good review.
If the body shop adjuster said it, then that is the adjuster, and they need proper training. If it is the body shop manager, then the ENTIRE department needs proper training. If it is the dealership's position, at that point, that dealership definitely needs to never see you again, ever and don't bother giving in to whatever they offer as compensation... Go to another dealership's collision center, one that wants repeat business.
But, if the GM was unaware, and is amenable to making it right, then, and only then, do you deal with them to get it fixed there. If they're not amenable, then you have one choice, and that is to never go there again, and ensure everyone you know knows the story. What they do with the information is their business.
Deysha notwithstanding, and she'll do good for you, but if they don't want to warranty the hood paint, then they really don't want you as a returning customer, case closed. Give the warranty money to a place that appreciates you.

I hear you! It's was the Assistant Service Manager at the huge local dealer. He even tried to make it seem not too bad. It's the size of a silver dollar in 2 spots. He said maybe a rock hit it in those spots! Hahaha. ****, those are the most symmetrical rock rust spots ever! What a joke.....

Since your vehicle is out of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, I recommend speaking to your Service Manager about this concern. He/She is in the best position to look into this for you. He/she can check into any assistance, recalls, or customer satisfaction programs that could help with the repairs needed. Let me know the outcome.

Thank you for your response. I did speak with the Assistant Service Manager. He wasn't overly concerned for me and really didn't care to "figure anything out". I was very disappointed. I can either find a new dealer to go to or deal with one that doesn't seem to care. Isn't paint covered for 60 months regardless of miles? Doesn't a ford ESP (Extended Service Plan) extend you bumper to bumper coverage like the business manager told me? I paid an insane amount for that coverage. I can send you the dealer info if you want it. Thanks

Outer panel rust-through perforation is what's covered for 5 years.
So you'd have to have a hole in an outer body panel for it to be covered under that 5 year warranty.
And no, the extended warranty doesn't extend your original bumper-to-bumper warranty. They lied.
Every extended warranty plan has a certain amount of items it covers.
None of the extended warranty plans cover bodywork, rubber trim, rubber hoses, etc.

NO. Paint is only covered for the first 36 months or 36k miles, whichever comes first, from the original buyer's in-service date.
