@SD CALSPCL

Thanks for the tip to go through the BBB in Dearborn. I was ready to go through the one in NY if need be. I wonder what bs I'll get from this dealer if I show up wanting to take pictures of the clutch!

I'd be giving them the BS if they don't allow you to take pictures, it is YOUR car after all.

True. But with some dealers in the NY metro area you would be amazed at some of the shenanigans they pull.

tell them to put it back together with the bad parts and you will come and pick it up. Sounds fishy ...... very fishy

stealerships will do lots of things to get out of a warranty...I took my truck in for work on a warrantied part...they said they would have to do it later I waited 4 weeks(I knew the guy so I figured he would call) and then I asked when I could bring it in and they told me it ran out of warranty 3 weeks after I took it in the first time...

The dealer gets paid by Ford to do the work. There's no reason for them to turn you away.

I'm aware of this. Still seems like they don't want to go through the hassle of repairing his car. Doesn't matter who pays for it, they're not providing basic customer service, and there's a big problem with that.

And, I bet Ford has a set rate for the warranty work, whatever the repair may be, and that rate is most likely much,much less then the dealer would get from a "paying" customer. Just a thought...

Ford sets that and I believe it is usually lower than what they'll charge people. When my '97's crossover blew out the dealership tried to tell me it was the manifold gaskets and I would have to pay. I then told the service guy that I had already checked out where it was leaking and there was a crack in the cross over behind the alternator exactly as described in the extended warranty letter from ford. Next call he confirmed it and it was fixed under warranty. My guess has been that they were going to bill both ford and me. Bill ford for the manifold, the gaskets etc and then bill me for a gasket replacement job. A little double dipping. Only other option is that the tech had nearly zero diagnosis skill.

Ford has a set rate that is lower than normal, you have warranty charge then you have normal charge. most of the time it is significantly lower. ex: a clutch job that pays 10 hours normal may only pay 4 hours warranty
