Ford says this is normal?
I do not think you are under standing how high up the carpet is... these people are almost laying on the ground to take these pictures. The carpet infact is the same in 2005-09 + 2010... what does this have to do with quality?? do you even understand what that word means? I can see if the carpet fell apart why you would say quality.. but we are talking about something you will never notice and that you have to crawl around to see. please do not buy another mustang.... go buy a honda! they are super nice and everyone seems to get on a soap box about them.

For $35k-$45K, I expect the carpet to cover the entire floor pans. It's almost is if people have been duped into accepting poor quality just because the car is fast or it is a "Mustang."

How is it poor quality if you can't see it sitting in either seat, or when waling by the car? Oh wait, maybe if you take a nap in the passenger foot well you might notice it.

Some people don't care about quality of the details, just as long as the final product works.
Bottom line is; the lower your level of expectations, the higher the level of your satisfaction.

Different people have different levels of expectations. So certain aspects of vehicular quality are relative. If it is low enough to allow dirt, mud, grime or moisture from my size 11 boots to get behind the carpet and cause mold or mildew, then it is a problem.

The picture from the OP looks like the camera is clearly above the seat. Must be a deceptive angle.

OThe short carpet is skimpin' and what did Ford save? Maybe $2 per car if nothing at all because when the carpet was put into the cutting press, the section that was needed to cover that padding was likely trimmed off as waste. Well, I asked my brother who used to work as an engineer at an OE supplier carpet manufacturer plant working on the OE spec patterns and that is what he said.
