I have owned 3 Mustangs and they all were dependable and great cars. As for the GTO comment I am sorry they looked like a Caviler and were butt ugly imo. I love Ford and it makes me feel good that my $$$ is going back into an American companies pocket and not overseas.

Have you seen the interior on a 2004 - 2006 GTO? Go look at one then look at your Mustang and get back too me.

GTO interior is BMW/Audi like and the Mustang is like, a 90's Ford.

Careful, that could very well be a Cavalier you're seeing in your rear view mirror.

Been in one, seen one, driven one. The interior is a crappy late 90s Australian interior with crappy green glowing lights, stupid gauge color, Ugly GM style Gauges, cheap looking steering wheel, and retarded door panels, with a bad layout. The seats are nice though ... Thats about it

I don't know if mine is like that on then passenger side, but on the driver's side you can see a bunch of insulation. But you have get down on your knees and twist your head at an angle in order to see up in there.

Just so you know, I traded in a 2011 BMW 335 for my 2012 Mustang. I really feel the interior is nicer in the Mustang than it was in the BMW. The leather feels so much nicer. I had the BMW for 11 months and hated it every time I drove it. Now, I can't wait to get in the Mustang and start it up. It's a whole different world. And it's American made. I love everything about it.

Don't sweat the petty things. (And don't pet the sweaty things.)

Final note: I actually get about the same gas mileage in town with the Mustang as I did with the BMW (412 hp vs 300). But my highway mileage is a lot better in the Mustang. And now I drive a cool-looking coupe instead of 4 door sedan.

most people couldnt get over how ugly the outside was.. so they never got the see the inside. it was a fancy grand am. The seats were nice but the interior really was not better. The plastic was cheap and hard. The touch points were wrong.. and the layout was poor.

the mustang isnt a perfect car.. thats why people that own one can afford one. Its a pretty nice for what it isnt..

Oh yeah the short carpet is "normal"... When I had my 08 it had a bonus... The wire loom passed OVER the carpet on the tunnel and over to the console when it should have gone under the carpet. I don't care what people say about bringing a car to this price range... The short carpet is skimpin' and what did Ford save? Maybe $2 per car if nothing at all because when the carpet was put into the cutting press, the section that was needed to cover that padding was likely trimmed off as waste. Well, I asked my brother who used to work as an engineer at an OE supplier carpet manufacturer plant working on the OE spec patterns and that is what he said.

Indeed that is not normal...those dirty fingerprint smudges on the glove compartment lid are horrendous...you should be ashamed of yourself!!!

Actually, the GTO was a 90's Holden, and the interior reflected it. I had a 2004 Grand Prix, with the Supercharged V6, and it was head and shoulders above the Holden, sorry GTO. The shifter in the GTO was horrible and the transmission reminded me of the old rock crushers from the 60's. And, yes, I test drove three of them at a Dallas dealer, who couldn't give them away, He had over 20 on the lot. The manuals were reduced $5000.!

I have to add my current Mustang is probably the best I have owned, the interior is perfect and not a squeak or groan in 22000 miles. As for the carpet, I just looked and I cannot see the insulation unless I bend over and look up under the dash.

I like the seats in the GTO, thats about it though oh and the LS2 engine. Other than that it's an ugly car. I always give crap to my brother-in-law for having one.

I agree , I have owned BMW as well. In fact when I was looking to sell my 2006 Mustang and my 2000 Audi TT Daily Driver I was looking at a 135i and 128i BMW. The 135i was more plush than the 128i and of course was quicker. They wanted 30K for the 2009 135i with 33K miles. Of course I was going to check out the new Mustang before I would ever plant around 30K on a used car. I have to say the Mustang was better in power, handling and the interior better then the dull interior of the BMW. Hell the leather seats in my wife's Fiesta was better then the seats in the newer BMW's. Like I said I just sold my 2000 Audi TT and its interior was nice but definitely had its share of issues like the glove box handle breaking on all of them no cup holders to point out a few issues. If you want to pick on what Ford might have done to give you bang for the buck they you have not shopped around to see what the other guys are doing.

I can't notice it when I get in or sit in the car. I had to angle the camera to see it. Evidently it's normal ford practice

if i could take a moment to comment on your statement --

i worked for Pontiac for a short time -- very long time ago and they are nice cars in the GM line. I will back up the statement that the interiors are nice ....

BUT -- for the last 23 years I've worked for BMW and unless the pharmacy is actually refilling my prescription with some mind altering drug, there is not many that could conclude the interior of the GTO is anywhere close to German Standards. maybe similar ergonomic layout -- but quality no... Not even BMW has the nerve to compare the interior of the current F1 (7Series) to the presentation on the Audi A8 --

Then again many of my co-workers in sales and service are keenly surprised at the interior of my car and have had plenty of compliments on how good a job Ford is doing in the last few years.

Yes, i miss the sports seats and the thick padded sport steering wheel in my 2007 328 coupe and the luxury features in the 2009 335 Coupe -- but i love it more when i have a M3 pull up next to me and know that i can spank him in a straight line and chase him down in the canyons

Let me add to my post, above. The interior was at least three years behind my GP, and the sound system was trash. The fit and finish was terrible, and all three cars, I test drove, had rattles in the dash area. Needless to say, I did not buy the GTO. This was supposed to be a Halo car, but it was just a hastily changed Aussie sedan. Sticking a new front and rear on a car that was already old and due to be replaced said it all. I drove Pontiacs all my life, going back to 1960, when I took my drivers test. I owned a string of Firebirds, and three Grand Prix GTP models, including a 40th Anniversary two door.

My last Firebird was an '82 Trans Am I ordered while overseas for delivery when I came home, so I am not anti-GM. The Aussie GTO was a mistake and GM paid dearly for that mistake. I only hope Ford does not follow suit with the next Gen Mustang, by making it a "World" car, and taking it too far from it's original roots.

I don't think you are being picky. If my car comes in that way I'll just stay with my 2006 GT. Didn't ford once say "Quality is Job One"? I had a lot of issues with my 2006 and it was hell getting things fixed. Kind of tired of that S---, NO MATTER WHAT THE HP is!

Cancel your order then. That is a really retarded reason to do that, I mean seriously its retarded. Your 2006 has the same short carpet.
