Etched/Discolored Brembo Brake Calipers

My local dealer finally has a new 2012 Musatng I would seriously consider - a Lava Red base GT with Brembo brake package & 3.55 gear set. The only real downer for me is the fact that the Brembo calipers were badly discolored or etched. Is this a common problem?

Is it a white residue? I've seen some pics from other members of this and mine had some when it came in. All of mine wiped off no problem though so I wouldn't sweat it. Just point it out to the dealer and if it doesn't come off maybe they can warranty it.

I don't see a response saying it was or wasn't fixed . . .

Thanks for the link. I wish the OP in that link would have posted a follow-up. The calipers look the same as the ones in that link and I agree that it probably is due to the dealer using some harsh chemical wash or hard water. The car I was looking at was also a dealer trade.

On mine I periodically remove the wheels for cleaning the inside of the rims, dousing the calipers with water, the pads with water and the rotor vents with water. The calipers was washed w/ car soap and a car wash pad.

Not a recommendation...

To restore the lustre I spray WD-40 onto a paper towel and wipe the caliper exterior. It has done a great job to make them look new. I follow up w/ car soap and wash pad, w/ lots more water.
