Creaking Noise from Front-end while braking

I've had the TSB done on the control arms to fix the clunking noise I was getting on bumps. But I've got a creaking noise (not a squeak) -- only when braking. I can't reproduce it by pushing up and down on the suspension, though I would have expected it as I thought the sound might have been a (dry) bushing on the sway bar or such.

Will bring it back to the dealer...but wanted to give them something specific to check. Last time I told them about this problem, they listened and said it seemed like it was maybe the ABS kicking in. It does almost sound like that kind of a noise...but there's no brake pedal pulsing to go with it so I'm not convinced.

Anyone have any ideas?

Got the same thing, which I asked about in another thread, but no replies yet. Hitting the dealer again on Friday. Will report back after.

Does it happen really only in cold temps? If so, I've got the same issue. Took it to the dealer and it got too warm to replicate, and I haven't bothered to go back yet since it's not that pressing an issue.

It does seem worse in the cold...but on the otherhand, maybe it just is worse as the car is getting older (and it's still winter so it's still cold). I'm wondering if maybe it's an issue with the caliper (loose?). Let's see what wheelman's dealer says (hopefully the dealer is more imaginative than mine was).

I believe everyone has this issue. I don't think anything of it since its not constant.

Would they be bushings squeaking?

Every once in a while, but always in the morning, when I'm turning out of the garage, it will make a "clunk" noise. It happens once in a blue moon. It could be the bushings, but it happens so rarely its hard to pinpoint. I also made sure that my bushings are heavily greased and I still get the "clunk" every once in a while.

I wondered because I thought I've read about the grease.

It's a very weird thing, I've never heard this noise in any mustang I've ever owned except this one.

Was it different after you changed suspension?

I've heard it on older cars and just sprayed lubricant on it. lol

I would say its identical. I had the stock suspension on for a year but I can't remember when I first heard it. I think it might have been 6 months in before I heard it the first time and now I might hear it every 6 weeks or so, but it is always in the morning at first burn. I do expect to hear some noise because I have my front sway bar set to full and my shocks/struts turned to full stiffness too.

I had the loose brake pad issue, whenever I made a sharp right I would hear a noise (most of the time). Took it to the dealer and they got it taken care of

My creaking issues...

front-end: ball joint/LCA, as expected, & possibly upper strut mounts

brakes: degrading calipers, not as expected considering I only have 45k on the car

...so maybe check those if you're having similar issues.

Was it fixed under warranty? Expensive if not, I'm guessing.

No, it's an '07 w/ 45K so no warranty. About $450 each for ball joint and strut braces, $700 for calipers, so $1600+ all tolled. Does failing calipers at 45K sound right to anyone else? Seems pretty lame to me.

Seems really early for all, especially the calipers. Sorry to hear it!

Hello guys,

Please let me know if you’d like me to escalate this to the Customer Service Manager of your area.
